Rewatching these in 2021 has made me realize how much things have changed. At this point we're more just amused by how shitty these are than actually mad. Especially with how fucking boring the Bevanfield ones are, these definitely still have entertainment value. Also, I appreciate how much effort Phelous puts into researching the background of things he reviews. Not just Dingo, but Goodtimes, Golden Films, and pretty much everything. His review of Foodfight is even my favourite review of that movie on KZbin because of how much behind the scenes info he put in. And of course, Goodtimes and Dingo each gave Phelous a character that's pretty much his at this point. I mean if they aren't using Old Man and Wabuu anymore...

Oh, come on, "Country Bears" did give us a fabulous Christopher Walken performance. "This is not over! BEARS!!" And MAH GAWD, these Dingo "movies" are getting darker and darker. After rewatching this movie and remembering my apparent childhood love of all things Winnie the Pooh (seriously, I was into that shit from that classic Disney Afternoon cartoon to even enjoying the Book of Pooh. Can't wait to watch that biopic about the creation of the character), Wabuu is actually a rip off to Tigger. Both are animals who don't normally hop like kangaroos, have their own vanity theme, and are the resident asshole of the forrest. The only difference is Tigger is actually a fun character who is always given a talented voice actor to bring the character to life; he is the reason why Jim Cummings is among my favorite voice actors.

In my country (France), this film is sold as a Winnie the Pooh knock-off, and considering a lot of elements (obsession over honey, a character that's a constant wet blank, kangaroo mom and kid, a movie divided into segments with a story that has to do with the wind like in the original Winnie the Pooh movie from Disney...) it makes sense. And Wabuu could indeed be a bit of a Tigger ripoff, though he seems (to me) more assolish.

I watched the FRENCH version of "Countryside Bears"... It's WORSE. Like, TEN TIMES WORSE than the English dub. At least the English dub has SOME emotion. At least the English dub has SOME synch. At least the English dub has SOME voice consistency. In this French version, the voices are CONSTANTLY off-synch, interrupt mid-sentences, have almost no emotion, unsuit the characters, and both Grumpy (called in French "Grummel" for some reason) and the Kangaroo mother alternate from a male actor to a female actor... while the female actor is trying to sound "boyish" as Grumpy as the English voice actress does, the male actor makes no effort for the Kangaroo mother. It is SO bad it is not even funny. The whole thing is like a storybook being read aloud by teachers who then call it a freaking day. It's not funny if there is no effort put into it.

Finnish version is kinda bad as well. There's no emotion in the voices at all, they're even worse than our regular Dingo voices. The poor voice actors sound like they woke up too early and want go back to bed.

I thought the Germans voiced the French one too. :P Regarding the names, they mean something, so they kept screwing up whether to translate them or not. "Grummeln" is the German word for "grumbling", renamed to "Grumpy". Same with all the other movies. "Tupfelchen" (the Dalmatian) is just an English spelled "Tüpfelchen" which means "small spots". "Krumel" the Dog means "breadcrumb". "Wuschel" (the Squirrel) is the noun for something frizzy. I'd love to watch all movies in English and German and then compare them, to show even more screwups in the translations and inappropriate dialogue, but my English spelling is as good as the dub in those movies. Afaik they cuss even harder in the German dub, and make pop cultural references noone else in the world would get.

So i figured out how dingo pictures can be successful. Step 1. send TeamFourStar every dingo pictures cartoon Step 2. Somehow co-erce TeamFourStar into dubbing and editing the cartoons, maybe with a trap held together with a ruler, a string, and a box. Containing bacon. No living being resists the call of bacon. Step 3. There is no step three, if teamfourstar dubbed/edited dingo pictures animations they would actually be funny and enjoyable. Therefore making Dingo pictures successful and well known. Even if they were really drunk while recording the voiceover it would still be better then the current voice work. End of master plan.

Er, I think this film was trying to rip off the animated series "The Berenstein Bears" that was running around the same time, not that live-action Disney abomination. Said animated series came out in 2003 which, given the designs of the bears and their tendency to rip off animated features, Dingo seemed key on cashing in with the somewhat popular at the time animated series that came out a year earlier and not Disney's Country Bears.

Wabuu the kangacoon, with his white mask and ass-cone tail. Bouncing around with his sausage legs. Wow, Dingo goes on to make their own story when they don't have any plot to steal. And it's amazing. There's something extra horrible too when child murderer gets brought up as well as someone passing out from pain. It comes to a point some times where your dark edits become semi-fitting. God I love these videos. I never know what's gonna happen next.
