I have a question about Phelps elk mouth calls. I’ve been using the white amp “the most” because of the volume and big sound. What’s the difference between the maverick, phelps signature and the white amp. I’ve switched to phelps from Rocky Mountain calls because I feel like the sound is better and I get a louder clearer sound and more responses from elk. I wanted to try the thickest loudest latex call they make. All my calls are trash after abusing them in 2023 and need to buy new ones to practice before 2024. Thanks
@THEBUGLEROFFICIAL11 ай бұрын
I’d recommend picking up a “signature 3pk”. It has the Pink Phelps signature, Maverick, and Purple Smith sig. The purple is the thickest latex we have…… The pink is thinner than the white or Maverick. The Maverick has the sweet spot of latex in my opinion. Thick durable latex, stretched tight, and the green latex is more nimble than black IMO. If you like a heavy articulate call, Maverick can’t be beat. The purple takes a pounding and sounds great for hard callers. Makes great mature cow calls and giant bugles. The pink is thinner latex and doesn’t take as much air to make it go. Great cow call and bugles.

I have several times had bulls bark then grunt after, typically when they get frustrated because you just wont show yourself, this is their response, as they want you to show yourself, if you don't answer quick like you did they will just leave, same thing when they growl at you....and has always been with the biggest smartest ones.... I think less is more in bugling big bulls, he believed you then ....don't know if you intentionally did it or it happened because of the excitement, but you shortened your bugle, before the grunt considerably toward the end and it was so much more realistic to what I typically see and hear ....tough luck on hitting a limb, so many things that can go wrong....but, this is what we live for, if it was easy anyone could do it....great hunt....

BF Goodrich All Terrain tires DO NOT WORK with 3/4 Ton on larger trucks! For 1/2 tons and Jeeps, they are great! If a heavy truck is what you want to drive,get some Toyo's or Nitto's, their casings are built to handle heavy trucks.
@THEBUGLEROFFICIAL8 ай бұрын
I’ve ran Toyo M/T’s, Nitto M/T’s, BFG AT KO2’s, and BFG MT KM3’s on this truck and had ZERO problems with any of them. None have lasted beyond 30k miles, with the exception of the KM3’s which are still running and is TBD on how long they last. The POS Goodyears were some I got of of FB Marketplace mounted on wheels. I wanted the wheels and thought the GY should be fine on the Idaho backroads to run out, but boy was I wrong. They are junk! The others worked just fine everywhere I’ve hunted elk (which is several states and rough road conditions).

Great calling without knowing elk behavior, tactics that work, and gumption to go to places where elk live is worthless. Elk hunting to me isn’t about getting likes what so ever. I’ve hunted elk for 35 years and it’s been about the same thing- Taking home fresh elk meat to my family. Fooling a wild animal to come in close enough to fight. Spending time in beautiful places during the best month of the year. Connecting with my primal self and keeping my soul fed with adventure. Why do I video the hunt? To be able to share the incredible experience’s with friends, family, and you. To have the ability to watch the hunt over the years and relive those moments. If nobody watched these videos but me and I could afford to pay a camera man to film, I would still do it.
