I love my Phynex Microphones. Their range is insane but it depends on the venue. Remember when you are DJING a wedding you may have a 100 to 300 guest and 99% have cell phones that’s when you may run into problems. A wedding I did the Best Man went into another room because he was afraid to give his toast, I had no problems with the Microphone. It held out perfectly not one drop out.

Alot of people sleep on phenyx pro I use the PTU 2U & the PTU 71 both perform great. I understand why some want the brand name but these perform just as well as my shure slx.

That’s so great to hear that you’ve had a great experience too and that they perform like your SLX!! I think for us DJs it’s perfect. I think for like concert singers or performers I could see why they’d want the best sounding mic capsule, but for reliable connection and speeches, these are amazing!

Just make sure you check the TV channels to see what sort of interference you're going to get at your venues. I bought 2 PTU-1Us and one of the locations that I need it for (Ontario, CA) has TV channels 28 ~ 31 occupied, leaving only 578~580MHz available for the handhelds. Pretty disappointing. This will also apply to the upper band of the 2U which might leave you stranded with only one working mic. If you're out in the middle of nowhere, you probably have nothing to worry about, but make sure to check before you buy.

Thanks for watching and sharing this key insight! You are right that the upper band of the 2U has those frequencies based on their website: Channel A: 530.025MHz - 555MHz, Channel B: 550.025MHz - 580MHz. How have you find is the best way to check the available channels in your area??

What if you have the receiver higher would that had help the mic not to drop when holding it from the bottom?

Right dude?? The range is crazy!! This Phenyx Pro purchase was thanks to your recommendation!! I’m sure that would definitely help overall. The range was amazing even when the receiver was on the table for the lapel and holding the handheld correctly so maybe wouldn’t make as big of a difference too.

That's line of sight testing. What about testing it inside or going around the corner?

Thanks for watching! I would have loved to do more indoor testing but don’t have access to a large enough space. I did test the mic indoors in my Part 1 review video for these mics, but did not have enough space to test the mic to its full range, so I made this separate video as well. Re line of sight - After approx 140 feet you can’t see me, but I am no longer within line of sight. I start walking down a road perpendicular to my home and the signal is going through multiple cars, homes, people, trees etc. That is also when the “Low Grip” testing starts to fail. Hope that helps!
