Phet Pak Chong (PPC) Atemoya in Thailand (น้อยหน่า) | PPC Atemoya

Hello everyone, In today's video I found one of my favorite atemoya varieties (Annona atemoya) the Phet Pak Chong atemoya. This atemoya was specifically created in the Pak Chong region of Thailand.
Before coming to Thailand finding this atemoya variety was a big wish of mine to find because I always wanted to taste this variety of atemoya fresh from its birthplace Thailand. Here in Bangkok Thailand, I was able to find a street vendor selling these atemoya fruits.
You can see in the video the vendor is calling the atemoya Noi Naa (น้อยหน่า) which translates to sugar apple or custard apple. They say Noi Naa Phet Pak Chong meaning it is sugar apple/ custard apple Phet Pak Chong variety. I don't think there is a word for atemoya in Thai so they just use sugar apple and say the cultivar name at the end.

Just wondering, have few questions 1.If you were asked to plant one Annona which one would you go for and why? 2.Whats your best tasting Annona currently? 3. Which annona do you regard as more resistant to pests/ diseases, and some extent a bit tough to withstand few days/weeks of drought. many thanks for making me fall for the annonas , your channel has been resourceful 🙏🏿

Hello there, 1. I would plant atemoya (PPC/Geffner). Atemoya is the best of cherimoya and sugar apple so I was limited to planting just one that’s what I would go with. I like the cultivars Phet Pak Chong from Thailand and Geffner because it’s very productive. 2. My best tasting is probably phet Pak Chong to me, second is Geffner atemoya. 3. The most hardy Annona that I’ve dealt with so far that is resistant to pests and diseases probably has to be Annona salzmanii which I’ve haven’t had to do much and it keeps growing, my second is Annona montana which is mountain Soursop. Next has to be Soursop Annona muricata. I growing a lot of Annonas but there is a pest right now called the potato leaf hopper that is attacking many Annonas right now and seem to feast most heavily on my Sugar apple A. squamosa and Atemoyas.

@@gardenflorida How do you rate cherimoya? I personally don't like Atemoya. I rank Cherimoya #1 and Annona reticulata #2. I grew up most of my life eating Annona Muricata. I think my rating my change once at get a Biriba
