Phil 3, Schopenhauer Part 1: Will, Representation & Suffering

Schopenhauer argues that the world exists as a representation. The thing in itself, deemed unknowable by Kant, is declared by Schopenhauer to be will. This will expresses itself in all existence, and as a result human life is full of pain and striving.
