Aww that's great to read as I hate my harp face when I'm into a piece and lose all sense of what's around me! I watch it back and think...oh no..need to work on that element!

but seriously though yes - Amy is astounding, is she not? She has command of the music ... - she knows the heart of it - the CORE.. of what is REALLY going on in the music - All other "musicians" work very hard at stuff - they work very hard at skills, and at musicality - when in fact what is pulling them along is their insecurities and their desperate need for attention, or some other such wannabe-ness - It is MUCH better to be pulled along by the message of what the Holy Spirit has inspired in the TRUE music - the phrases - the compositional dialogue, scope, ... the JOURNEY of the music. the Journey of it. This piece by Phil C that she is playing here is an excellent example of the "Journey" of a piece.
@fgbowen8 жыл бұрын
And certainly - we are not robots, and Amy is not a robot - She feels the music, and certainly it connects to her in a very real and present way. It means something Real to her - and that is what makes her a valuable musician - I hope desperately that she is playing in an orchestra somewhere - an orchestra that rises succinctly and cohesively to that same level of honesty and professionalism.

She becomes the tool.. And the instrument becomes her... She's the emotion she feels and she makes you feel it, this happens . Some may fall in love more than with the instrument, emotions and passion it transfers... The strong desire and pleasure of communicating that emotion through his instrument companion.. She's really good and she studied and lived that tool ... She has a very strong way of transferring.

I first discovered Amy's rendering of Bach's Toccata (which is awesome). But before I started appreciating Bach I was a huge Phil Collins fan. To find that Amy could do both of those is wonderful. The combination of harps and drums may be more common than I think (I've never heard it before) but it works so well. Love it.

I love the forshadowing of the drummer in dramatic darkness as she is presenting the song in its first iteration and it gives tension that continues until he makes his entry. I love that he stayed withing the pitch concept of the piece and blended seamlessly into the song. Someday i hope to play harp with just a fraction of the skill of the Harper.

This has been one of my top 5 KZbin posts for years now. And every time I come back to listen I get the same chills as you play the first chorus ...and the expression in your face looks as if you're halfway to tears, and obvious emotions are the drive as you play the part. Godamn, it gets me every time. And this is after I just finished watching 'Entombed' play a entire live set. And the drums compliment this perfectly as your brother is a great musician in the way he keeps the meter and control of the accents with the drums. Fucking brilliant!
