Phil Collins is in San Antonio to return what's widely considered to be the biggest and best collection of Alamo artifacts ever assembled.
FOX 7's Ashley Paredez was on hand as the legendary musician and Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson helped unload the artifacts and spoke to the press.

What a story, who would of thought an overseas rock star would have the passion of the Alamo and then to share his years of expensive collection with the people of the state of Texas.

Donovan, a Scottish folksinger, who had big rock hits "Sunshine Superman" and "Season of the Witch", had a great song called the Alamo on one of his early albums in the early 60's. I'll bet Phil was familiar with it as he was probably very familiar with Donovan.

“Tejas, Mexico” ???? The defacto Mexican government never controlled any of Texas north of the Pecos. And “tejas” was never a Mexican State. Prior to 1821 it had been a Colony of New Spain as was Mexico. There were Spanish settlements in Texas to be sure and some of the settlements south of the Pecos were loyal to the new Mexican government but not many were in favor of Santa Anna’s federal dictatorship, and he never controlled Texas. Spain may have had some control in some Spanish settlements in Texas but the majority of Texas was under the control of the Comanche and Apache. It remained so until Texas became a sovereign Nation and even then the Comancheria was largely uncontrollable until intervention by the US Government. So No There was never a Tejas Mexico
@Art3615
@Art3615 Жыл бұрын
@@onechosenson The reason Santa Anna went to battle at the Alamo was because of the terrorist rebels led by Travis and Davy. The battle of the Alamo was fought in Mexico. All historians know this. Tejas was Mexico. Texas is Texas because Texas is just Tejas in Spanish. Tejas was never in control by Comanche or Apache. They had no government they had no need for it. The terrorist stole the land from Mexico and the natives. Yes Tejas is still Tejas nothing has changed.

Phil needs to watch the last remake with Billy Bob Thorton as Crockett a well made film and much more like it was than the disney and wayne movies which were enjoyable and well made for the times. I used to eat lunch at the alamo about everyday and with modern buildings all around it was alittle hard to try to imagine..marker's were inlaid on the streets/sidewalks to map out the way it was...being from Tennessee i was a Davy Crockett admirer growing up and it was a sign to me as I could spend time in the very place he died(?) and if santa ana did let him go (fellow mason's) and he settled in arkansas it's even a better ending for him and Id be happy...santa ana several years later after being kicked outta office came to chicago trying to find investor's in a tree gum he had that would eventaually be flavored by mr. wrigeley who bought it from ana but no one tried to get revenge or anything and Ive wondered why but anyone know why? the alamo was world famous and santa ana was demonized hi an lo so what gives?

Although most of the documents are verified authentic, unfortunately, the rest of Phil’s collection lacks provenance. Many of the items are period correct, but the stories connecting them to the Alamo are unsubstantiated. To make claims, such as about the bullet pouch, one has to have solid proof and extensive documentation. Speculation is fun, wonderful, and inspiring to the imagination, but only addresses possibilities, not authenticated facts.

The Alamo will once again be the site of another battle. No, not against the Mexicans, but against the lefties who try to remove the statue of William Travis, the slave owner who actually had his slave within the walls of the compound during the siege. It's going to be bloody again, but the outcome will be way different. Good luck, loonie lefties.

No one within the Alamo was perfect. But those men offered up their lives for us and that alone deserves the utmost respect. Joe stands with all the other legends of The Alamo as a hero among hero’s. Travis offered to let him leave and he chose to fight. And after the battle he guided the messenger of Texas Susanna Dickinson back to general Houston.
