Say what you want about Phil Collins being cheesy/eighties, but the man sure as hell has made some killer drum tracks.

I have watched a half dozen drum covers of this song, and yours is by far the best. Your timing is exact. You would think it is Phil himself drumming. AWESOME.

I’ve been obsessed with this tune, the Chester Thompson cam angle is one of the greatest musical insights on KZbin this is a fantastic tutorial to begin the journey to chip away at this tune, well played! when Leland Sklar is part of the music, you know you are at the upper echelon,

You are an amazing drummer. My son with autism has started with a drum kit the past year, and watching you play Inside Out (a song I love) made me realize this is in his wheelhouse of playing. I can't wait to see his drum instructor tonight!!

This is oh so good. You've got the "Phil" fill down that I could never figure out, the same one that starts "I Missed Again". A little slight-of-hand with press rolls and right-left trickery.

+Vincent Sondermeijer I dig it too when some one else appreciates , really appreciates the greatness of Phil's drumming... BEST DRUMMER EVER.. imo. You did a great job. .. please post some more , maybe " I don't care any more" that is a great song for drums. Either way , just put more vids . out . You are a good drummer and playing along with Phil , I am jealous. (doesn't play drums). Good Job.

Correctly said amigo. Phil just seems to inspire (fellow drummers ) to go out there and make a name for yourself. Hey man if you get time do check out my Drum covers on my KZbin profile. If you like some of the videos do give a thumbs up kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHPTdXmHhLF9ZtE

Absolutely, the different camera angles of this tune from his 1990 show is absolutely one of the best. Phils versatility on keyboards is highlighted as well as the talents of Chester Thompson, Darell Stermer Leland Sklar, etc.

I'm in a Genesis cover band called, "Afterglow." I have a huge drum kit for Phil covers. You've put me to shame on your 3 piece. Brilliant performance on a piece that is far more difficult than people know! Truly a magnificent job. I should sell half of my crap, lol! It's mostly for things like Firth of Fifth, Suppers Ready, and the like. Hell, you probably cover those on your snare and kick, lol.

Steve Barker Wow, that's really great to hear man! I'm glad to be a source of inspiration to you :) And don't worry,if you're passionate about it, your drumming will definately go somewhere. Just remember not to focus exclusively on practicing technique and boring rudiments - those are important, but it's just as important to see who your favourite band/drummers are, and take a very close look at what those guys are doing. What are they playing, how are they playing it, when and why? Makes you a musical drummer, and that's way more important than being a flashy virtuoso monster. With the limited set of skills you learned from just a year of playing, you can still be an awesome drummer, as long as you apply your playing tastfully. Cheers!

Isn't it a solo song by Phil? Sounds very Genesis though... it was on No Jacket Required album
@KellyBezz6 жыл бұрын
KH80 Inside Out was indeed a Genesis song that Phil took and added horns to for his solo concerts. He also did this with a few other Genesis songs like: Behind The Lines, Follow You Follow Me and Throwing It All Away. Mike Rutherford in his solo act (Mike And The Mechanics) also used some Genesis songs in his solo concerts. God Bless you.
@ceetee216 жыл бұрын
This is not a Genesis song! In terms of live performances, The horn on the song was a brief sax solo just like the record version. This song is from No Jacket Required
@maxiformula6 жыл бұрын
Kelly Bezz, it’s NOT a Genesis song at all!!!! The Genesis hit called Inside and Out, edited in 1977...this one is called Inside Out and is just a Phil’s song, from No Jacket Required edit in 1985, his 3rd solo album. The ONLY Genesis song “used” in a Collins’s solo album is Behind the Lines in Face Value in 1981, riarranged and speeded up compared to the original edit in 1980 from Duke Album. Other Genesis songs (except Behind the Lines) played sometimes in live shows don’t count, ‘cause never edited as solo hit in a solo album.
