I've watched this scene a million times but this is the first time I've picked up on that subtle Iron Man II callback. Very last shot, the Tesseract is displayed right next to the original version of the Arc Reactor that Howard designed, which tony recognized from his father's notes from IM2…that's why it was the first thing that caught his attention, and you can see his expression change to "Oh shit…this is serious". Marvel clearly puts almost as much effort into the more backgrounded events as the key scenes...and that's obviously why they're the best.
@dadanddaughtertimes36995 жыл бұрын

I think it's more likely to be the portal lol , and I think he's looking at hulk first imo
@quintavious24825 жыл бұрын
Holy shit the replies smh, not necessarily wrong but still stupid and abrasive. Don’t sweat it Jehad I actually had the exact same experience rewatching this scene having missed the extra weight of the “whoaaah” look in Tony’s eyes after picking up the tesseract and realizing the seriousness of the situation. He remembered ‘the Tesseract’ from his father notes. The “PoOrtal or not” displayed next to it had nothing really to do with original comments point, point is just that at the last moment of the scene Tony can be seen recognizing the tesseract and the gravity of its importance shows on his face. All of which is to say, it is an excellent showing of RDJ’s acting and Marvel Studios’ foresight and filmmaking. “b..b..but it’s not da arch-reactor itsa da portal froma da beginig ofa da movie duhh are you lika dumb?” Fucking stupid ass motherfuckers

There so much to unpack here; When he looks at the Hulk on the screen; he knows it’s Banner and he knows the story behind it, but he’d never seen how intense it actually was. Then the look of shock when he pans over to Rogers. Like, what the hell is he doing here? Then the Tesseract. All the notes from Howard Stark in Iron Man 2 that led to developing the new Arc Reactor. This is why the MCU’s world building is so great.

Despite of being considered by some as mere pieces of entertainment, I find the MCU abosolutely fascinating, so well executed and aligned visually in it's timeline, I can watch Ironman I and Avengers Endgame and both look like filmed yesterday. That's why some things still surprise me: I just realized Ironman's trilogy was finished extremely early in MCU's timeline.
@BitrateBilly6 ай бұрын
its all due to their slow transition from physical props to CGI, the older iron man suits were pretty much complete costumes, so as a result it looked super realistic, then overtime they started to make the costumes less and less complete as CGI could cover those parts, until eventually it was pretty much all CGI, but by that point it looked real enough that you couldn't tell the difference

@mrmacross4 жыл бұрын
@@Ami-vh7sr But at that point, the Tesseract was just the MCU's version of the Cosmic Cube. Joss Whedon didn't direct this movie with the intent that the Tesseract was going to house the Space Stone. That was a retcon that made it easier to introduce the concept of Infinity Gems. Instead of having to make two additional movies to bring the Space and Mind Stones to the MCU, just take two MacGuffins from Avengers 1 and make them Infinity Stones.

"I don't like being handed things." Gets handed the task of running the Avengers (because, let's face it, Steve's a field ops guy, not executive management.) Gets handed to fight the Hulk alone. Gets handed to find and stop Ultron by Nick Fury in the barn. Gets handed to impose the Sokovia Accords to the rest of the Avengers. Gets handed to help develop Peter Parker from novice to full hero (to be fair, by Tony's own actions). Gets handed to face Thanos and his lackeys. Gets handed to figure out Time Travel. Gets handed to save the universe by getting the gems out of Thanos's hand. Just because he doesn't like it doesn't mean he won't do a good job.
@TechInspected5 жыл бұрын
That's his character arc. He didn't work well with others and he was abrasive. He didn't like being handed stuff because he didn't like responsibility. Then he slowly became more forgiving, accepted his shortcomings, and he finally became a team player in Endgame after taking on the responsibility.
