Same here. In the early 80s when I was a teenager, my Mom and I went to a taping of his show in Chicago. We were in studio audience. I was young when he was on and did watch his shows when I had opportunity (summers, sick from school) but my mother watched him daily.

I grew up wayching him. Hecwas & is one of the greatest interviewers/talk show hosts to exist. Although he got down to the informative nitty-gritty of subject matters, he kept it clean every time. Anyone at any age could watch his show & by the end of it, well informed. Im so glad he & Marlo found love & happiness in each other. Shes a beautiful lady & hes a handsome man. Rest on Sir Donohue, Rest on!

I grew up in Chicago back in the early 1970’s watching the “Donahue” show. And I was always proud when Phil Donahue recorded his show in Chicago. And then he moved on to New York. I loved his show. I watched it every day it was on. My condolences to Marlo Thomas and the family. RIP to a true legend. Mr. Donahue greatly impacted my life via a show (circa 1989) wherein he addressed the book "The Boy Who Couldn't Stop Washing" and the topic of OCD, which I had been dealing with for years since childhood, but had never seen discussed by anyone else. Thanks to Phil raising the profile of OCD issues I was able to finally get help and live a better life.

I remember Phil growing up and my Mom always watching. I also watched Marlo in her TV shows as well as her Father, Danny. The saddest thing about the passing of people you grew up with is that you're not very far away. Rest in Peace Phil and mt feltheart condolencces go to Marla and the rest of the family.
