I just found myself smiling through County Down. This guy exudes the joy of the Lord. We brought him for a concert right around this time (January '96). Will never forget it.

For once it's a show I was attending! I was a member at the time of this church, and thought it was mindblowing for Phil to be at the church where I went. Good memories....

Also reminds me, listening to "Strong Tower", that I was lucky to be one of the first people to hear it in 1989 at a show in OKC. Even in that live moment, I knew that song would be a classic.

I saw him and his band at The Lambs Club in NYC-when the Emerging album came out! They played for close to 3 hours! Such a privilege-D

I was there as a kid. My dad was the sound guy for him when he was in town. I loved him and my dad always took me with him. His music has been with me my entire life.

I guess this is just before he got his Olson guitar. He is likely playing his Langejans. I think this is just before he discovered the Jam Man looper, which he learned about when he was at the home of Chet Atkins. He used a short delay looper at this time. So amazing to hear such a truly gifted musician, and one that uses his God given gift to serve Jesus so effectively.

I was so broke when you came to Jacksonville Florida, about 1996 or 1997. My wife called me and told me that you and Wes King and Out of the Grey were needing help with set-up (announced on the radio). It was such a bright spot in a very dark time. You spent a long time talking to my wife after the show (while they were trying to coax you on the bus). Thank you

I was at this concert ... this was my former church, and I loved to come back to see some of the great musicians Randy Kettering brought in to minister!!

I was the main guitarist for Randy doing lead and fill ins etc. I was at this concert. People couldn’t talk to Phil afterwards because he wasn’t feeling well, but he made exception to sign his book, but could not see him. I met Randy 5 years later and he asked me come back because it was said many came and went, but I was the best.

This is the worst sounding guitar phil has ever played.... his olsens sound 1000 times better. Though He is such a gifted player. The instrument really makes such a difference to the over all sound. I am a big fan of his music.

What brand is the guitar he is using? Agree Olson is best! Does sound cheap. Maybe Grace didn’t pay much??

As far as the guitar goes... It's a Del Langejans, and though not as pricey as an Olson, they are not cheap. Phil already had two Olsons at this time, but the amount of extra gear he had to take on the road because of the older setup was significant, and it kept getting damaged by the airlines. The Langejans guitar allowed him to simplify his gear. And it was a beautiful guitar on it's own right. I saw it myself.
