I've seen PK twice; first at Creation 80 festival, where he knocked me out with his looped version of Amazing Grace. I saw him 15 years later in a large church hall where he was just by himself. During one of his songs, a little 3 year old girl got loose from her mom and ran towards the stage where there was a ramp that led to the front. Phil stopped mid-song, got down on one knee and welcomed her into his arms. He spent 5-6 minutes chatting with her and letting her play his guitar, and then sent her back to him mom, who was mortified. He did not go back to the song he was playing before, but switched over to his song "LIttle Ones", and intro'd the song by saying this beautiful child was an example of God's creation. THAT's what I think of when I listen to Phil play. The dude is genuine.

We saw him about 10 years ago in a small store front church in Hot Springs, Arkansas. After the show almost everyone from the crowd was standing around chatting among themselves when I noticed Phil had some out into the audience area and was just standing there. My wife and I went over and he chatted with us for about 10 minutes. You are so right. Very humble, genuine guy. And a phenomenal guitarist. And I was also at Creation 80.

Playing his Olson Guitar, he was traveling around the county in 91 and 92 giving solo acoustic performances just like this one. Accompanyied by his Jamman looper he would lay tracks down and jam over his own tracks all live. The Jamman had a feature that goes into conitnuous record mode but fades out after a small amount of time. That's how he was actual able to change the tracks so slighty, notice when he's in loop mode he must remain modal to that key. Not a problem for Phil.

I first saw Phil Keaggy play with Sweet Comfort Band at the Shrine Auditorium in San Bernardino California in 1976. Then every chance I got through college and into adulthood, I have watched him play in different places. Class act, world class guitarist and a man who points to the truth of Christ unashamedly. Rock on Phil. I use to be able to duplicate some your music while back in college with my friend I played with, at least the strumming parts, but your leads just blow me away and I am still amazed even though I am not sitting in the front row at Harvest Church in Riverside California watching you play. Blessings to you.

Heard Phil do 'Tim' acoustic at a show about this time also at John Brown University here in NW Arkansas. He was suffering from a cold or something, but did a great show that night. He attempted to the 'Time' riff in cut time, then backed off and gave it the swing feel he plays here. It was amazing; I've wondered if he realized how good he was that night... I have hoped for an acoustic version to show up here for a long time. Thanks for posting this.

Some enjoy his acoustic work more than the electric. He's playing his Olson guitar which just sounds great, and helped Olson guitars get onto the map. James Taylor played Olson guitars too. Playing solo like this is not done by a lot of guitarists, but he has no problem filling in gaps. I think he really enjoyed doing acoustic concerts as they were always so much fun. The looping machines of the day only had about 8 seconds max, so he would record short phases and allow them to fade out, constantly overdubbing as he played. Today looping machines record 4 to 10 minutes...

Thanks. There are just way too many coherent, very highly intelligent people who have investigated these things, many of whom were atheists seeking to prove the Bible false, who came to simple faith in Jesus. Obviously, no one can give you 100% certainty on these things. The greatest testament I have is the peace that is beyond my own understanding. I do not have to disconnect my mind in order to have faith. Christianity is an intelligent faith, honestly. There is hope for you! :)
