My GOSH. Playing guitar, bass, and tap dancing on the pedals, AND singing at the same time. Everything is on key, and has perfect timing. Suddenly I feel very small. This guy is fantastic!!!

He is an amazing gift to us from God. No doubt about it. What an awesome ministry. I saw him live in an old country church in Athens, TN a while ago, and was blown away, I've never seen anyone make authentic trumpet notes through their mouth like Mr. keaggy. I've never seen any recordings on youtube of him doing it either. But wow..What a humble guy who loves the Lord.

I agree. I saw Phil Keaggy live in the late '80s with a guy named Randy Stonehill on my college campus. The friends who I went to that show with that night still talk about it. Phil has a song called 'Jerusalem' which is simply amazing. His body of work is huge. I'd really like to see him again. My wife and I saw Pat Metheny last October and those are the two most memorable concerts I've ever seen.

To play the guitar (or sing, or play piano, or whatever) is enough in itself as an expression of yourself, of who you are. But ultimately, if we play for (and to) the Great King, it is not in vain nor without recognition. "Heart to God, hand to man..."

I heard the quote about Phil being "the best in the world." It's more of an urban legend than anything else as the quote has supposedly been made by such guitar greats as Hendrix, Clapton and Van Halen. Said Keaggy, "it was impossible that Jimi could have heard me, we recorded our first album two weeks after his unfortunate death, so I just can’t imagine how he could’ve heard me. I think it’s just a rumor that someone’s kept alive…and that’s it for that!"

Why argue about who is better than who? The supply of great guitar players is endless. This musician has been putting out a steady stream of hella good original music for decades. I've been playing guitar for thirty five years and, although the Christian message is his deal and certainly not mine, he has spectacular talent far beyond mine and so I regard his music as extraordinary.

After so many years into a career and he comes up with yet another song that I consider artistically rich. Then yet again, the subsequent Inseparable CD (fan club version) has a remix of The Seeing Eye which enthralls me from the moment it begins playing those quirky intro sounds. Anyway, I love this song, its groove, its jams, and its Salvation Army Band message. How cool is all that! It doesn't get any better.

No one hears about great musicians if they add Christian to their name
@GuitarSlinger211210 жыл бұрын
***** Because a lot of people just don't want to hear about your invisible sky buddy. Some Christian music is good like this song here, but more commonly what happens is that it sucks and typical Christians aren't capable of realizing that it sucks if it has God brand all over it and so they add it to their list of things that are oppressing them. And that gets old.

God is my Father, so I'm sentimental about music that praises Him. It's quite normal actually, there are things you value too which others won't understand. That's just the way the world spins :)

2:22 and 2:28 are easily the most underrated parts of this video. If you listen, while he's hitting the guitar he hits two seemingly random open E strings with his pinky. When he does the bass line and starts to tune down, you will hear both of those notes "accidentally" appear at the perfect point in the bass line. Realistically, it would be impossible for him to hit that note cleanly at that point, so he planned it on the first run like a boss.
