Phil plays "Shades Of Green" in St. Charles, IL on March 20th, 2004. There's lots of 'little plastic thingy' action. Posted with Phil's permission.

This beyond amazing. He is the most underated guitarist in the world. I'm a 25 years fan of Vai, Satiriani, Al D Meola, Yngvie, McLaughlin, Becker, Beck, Page etc. He's right up with them and has been since my childhood. I have no real idea why he's not world famous. I tell about him all the time and they are all amazed to discover him. Keep playing for us Phil. We appreciate your music. Luv and Peace.

What can anyone say - this is Phil Keaggy. God has blessed his playing beyond measure, in my humble opinion.

You start to consider yourself "good" on the guitar. Then.... You run across guys like these, that make you realize that you have a long way to go before you can call yourself good.
@since187612 жыл бұрын
I consider someone who can play on time and who can make chords without muting strings "good". Anything past that is just different styles and ways of playing. Like, Neil Young would do a lot of just strumming and managed to make his guitars sound good. Erik Mongrain puts it on his lap and bashes away at it and manages to make it sound good. Phil beats out a good rhythm to use as a backing track and it sounds good. The two things they have in common are they're all on time and sound clean. :)

Phil Keaggy, the best guitarist in the world...jimi hendrix said so once

Jimi Hendrix never said that ... Go to a website called Snopes, witch refutes myths and bogus stories, such as this ... Even Phil himself, has said so .. The "Go Ask Phil" idea has become ridiculous.

@wileypayote15 жыл бұрын
does he have two capos on the guitar. I've never heard of that. What does that do?
@treezles4 жыл бұрын
wileypayote The higher capo only covers the first four strings, and the lower capo covers all of them (but only affects the two lowest strings that the higher capo doesn’t cover). I know you asked this 9 years ago but I just saw this and figured I’d answer.

@WhyteRomeo Yeah, He's good too! But in my opinion, a man with 9 fingers is accomplishing so much more than Tommy Emmanuel. Sure they have different styles, and he is very stunning, but Phil accomplishes much more on a musical level. Of course, it's just my opinion obviously. And there is no ignorance involved. I'm well aware of the many awe inspiring guitarists around!
@since187612 жыл бұрын
And also people like Tommy Emmanuel (who E V E R Y O N E who hears him says he's great) will be the first to tell you THEY have a lot to learn lol... you're never done getting better :) but anything after the point of being able to play on time and cleanly is good!
