My youth pastor turned us on to this song in the 70s. It always makes me cry. I'm 60 now. The song still brings tears to my eyes. It is beautiful and reverent. I'm not entirely sure but the song may have been released in 1980. In any case, it was part of the Christian Rock movement.

@efficiencycounts76699 жыл бұрын
+O'frabjous Day Hi! :-) I don't think you are an atheist... I don't think you have had very many good examples of Jesus to relate to. Phil Keaggy is a good example. A true athiest hates the beautiful soul as much as a true believer loves the beautiful soul... because God is Love, and to hate God you would have to hate Love.
@ofrabjousday19 жыл бұрын
+Efficiency Counts Hello and thanks for your post. Well, I'm definitely an atheist, and one of the reasons for it is because of the misconceptions that churches spread. Here's a classic one: A true athiest hates the beautiful soul. That's just not true. A true atheist believes that it is exactly that, our beautiful souls, which is capable of getting us past all of our differences and hatreds and lead us to love one another. A theist is simply someone who believes in a higher power to do that for us. An atheist is simply someone who believes we have to do it ourselves. A true atheist doesn't hate God because one cannot hate what one knows doesn't exist. Therefore they don't hate love. They love love, most especially within the urgency of attaining it for us all within the here and now.
@efficiencycounts76699 жыл бұрын
I don't know what atheist means. But I do know that "...love comes from God and anyone that loves belongs to God and knows God. Anyone that does not love does not know God because God is love." ~ 1 John 4:7-8. :-)
@ofrabjousday19 жыл бұрын
+Efficiency Counts Thank you for your kind reply. I don't think that John quite knew himself well enough to express his love without having to credit it to a higher power for which he had to worship, not knowing for sure where or who this higher power really is. The Apostle John, however, was so in tune with the true power of love that he spoke of it openly and honestly in 1 Corinthians, the entire 13th chapter. THAT'S what an atheist believes also. That passage still has the ability to make me well up.

Phil Keaggy has always been compared to the likes of Steve Morse, John McLaughlin, Allan Holdsworth, Jeff Beck, and Joe Satriani-by secular hard rock guitar players. For decades. EVERYONE is floored by Phil. EVERYONE knows who he is, and we think it's sad that he has been sidelined by the mainstream music conglomerate for being a Christian artist. They won't play his music on radio stations, MTV, etc. Occasionally you will see him in ads in the guitar magazines, and he is usually considered the best there is in the print market, and they have always supported him, but you never get to hear him.
