Miss this guy on the Leafs. Only guy to consistently put up points. Classless Toronto media lighting a fire under his ass only to drive him out of town. I'm glad he won the cup, and go figure, the very next season after being traded. #KessleySnipes

And we we're trying to build a team around him and you don't build around players like Phil.
@seanmclellan70948 жыл бұрын
That's a joke. If you actually believe management did a reasonable attempt at building a team around him you're an idiot. Who did they bring in that was close to his talent level? Noteables include: Lupul, Phaneuf, and JVR. Over the course of 6 years? Is that acceptable to you? Because other than JVR, none of those players would be first pairing or first line players yet they were the best the Leafs had to offer in those 6 years. That's a pathetic attempt at building around any player let alone Kessel.

It was definitely a fun roster and those guys seemed to love playing together. The early 90s Pen' s roster will always be the best in regards to pure talent. It might be one of the top 3 teams ever constructed with Ron Francis, Stevens, Jagr, Lemieux, Joe Mullen, Straka, Murphy, Doug Brown, Coffey, Samuelson, and Tocchet.

@michaelcoslo64978 жыл бұрын
So - did you tell the shitty Toronto media to shut their yaps? Of course Pens fans are going to make fun of ya. Toronto paid a good bit of Kessel's salary while he went on to become the leading scorer in teh playoffs. So management must have been happy to get rid of the fat hotdog man as well. And we all know the best way to build a team is to get rid of the best player on it. Thanks though, we kinda like the guy. Maybe you can see the cup when he brings it to Toronto.

Not sure why anyone was surprised with his performance. He had a history of elevating his play when playoff time came around. He did it in Boston. He did it in Toronto. And as this video suggests, he did it in Pittsburgh. Also, he was robbed of the Conn Smythe. He was better than Crosby for at least most of the playoffs.
