I noticed he didn't say anything about kids who lost grandparents or parents to COVID. I believe that has a lot to do with children's issues these days. I don't think that it would have helped them a lot to have them in school and know that they were losing teachers because of that. I see the issues that my niece's children are having after her loss to COVID. It's heartbreaking

I am also a teacher and I totally agree. There just one thing that people seem to forget. What about all of the teachers who got sick and lots of them still deal with the consequences. Children were the least vulnerable from getting the virus but they certainly could spread it. There was a lot of support for the people in healthcare and I was one of people who highly respected the job they did. In my country teachers were required to go to work where others could work from home. We had a period of fully online teaching (horrible) and then there was a period of ‘splitting a class in half. One half I had to teach on the screen and the other half I saw in class, all at the same time. I got covid fore times in the past three years. And there was/is no acknowledgement for the thousands of teachers who did everything they did for the kids.

I have worked as a teacher in Los Angeles for 25 years and I was dumbfounded by the lack of common sense people had regarding the “covid pandemic”. Dr. Phil could have taken it a step further and said there were plenty of red states that had kept schools open early on while blue states remain closed and those red states did not have any covid outbreak issues. Otherwise we would be hearing of law suits for kids dying due to being forced to attend school. It was disgusting to see private schools open in CA, but public school kids had to do “remote learning”.

Remote learning is not and was never the issue. Parents are having kids that they don’t really care about making sure they get an education. Let’s be real here. RL is not new and many people have done it and continue to do it every day. Kids these days aren’t motivated to learn. I’ve spoken to the younger generation about their education and they’ve told me that they don’t do/know anything because of technology. One girl actually told me she puts her assignments into chatgpt and it completes her work for her. She admitted to never having done an assignment on her own. Ever!!! That’s the elephant in the room that people are willfully overlooking to make a political side the villain.

It was teachers, faculty and family members whose life was in danger by sending kids to school in the middle of a pandemic. Kids getting behind in school can't be compared to adults dying. There is no data about how many adults died due to children bringing home the virus and giving it to someone vulnerable.

In 2021 my then 10 year old grandson went to California to visit his other grandma, great grand parents, and auntie; they all tested positive for Covid. They decided to test him too although he wasn’t sick at all. Bouncing all over the place. He tested positive without a single symptom. He suffered more from being an only child isolated in the home with his grandmother homeschooling him while his parents worked. I am 63 and I do not know of one person PERSONALLY who died of Covid. And they mentioned that they were marking 80/90 year old people down who had a heart attack and also tested positive for Covid as dying from Covid instead of a heart attack. Probably the reason kids were not dying from Covid is because they had not yet developed many of the co-morbidities that plagued others who died from Covid (vaccinated and unvaccinated).

More kids died from suicides than covid and the kids that died from covid were like the adults had 3 or more comorbidity. There are so many reports out now that show everything the government did made things worse and that they just made stuff up without any data or facts. Besides many schools like our state only shut down April and May in 2020 and not one kid or teacher died from covid. Our state had less covid deaths that New York and California.

@jordanesquire4287 Providing the same resources they get in school other than academics. There was no counseling during that time, at least not at our school and definitely not in-person. Kids should still have been able to go in once a week to meet with their guidance counselor while distancing. Covid hasn't went away, people are still dying from it but we aren't distancing anymore, we aren't masking anymore, we aren't even getting boosted anymore. And yea kids were already behind before covid but they had inperson support. My kids have IEPs, they weren't getting an inhome aid to help with learning like they got an in-class aid at school so imagine how much more behind those kids were.
