That would be Mr. McCord. Whenever you got McCord in the tower and Feherty on the course talking to each other it was golden. I still remember some guy holed out on consecutive par 4s on the back nine. McCord asked on the 3rd par 4 in a row for the guy what club he was using and Feherty told Gary "Probably the one that'll put it in the hole."

The top professionals, especially multi major championship PGA members, make the game look so easy. Just imagine the hours of practice, to be able to have such incredible ball control, in situations such as these, especially in highly lucrative tournaments, where maintaining par, or making a birdie or two, can mean winning or losing the tournament. Is it any wonder that Phil has been near the top of the leader board on so many of the major tournaments.

@TheMasterMief5 жыл бұрын
Why didn't he take relief on that shot? Would that have made the shot more difficult?
@almostfm5 жыл бұрын
@@TheMasterMief I _think_ that, because he's left-handed, his "nearest point of relief" from the path would have also have had his swing obstructed by whatever that structure is on the right of the camera shot. It's probably easier to take an unrestricted swing and play the ball off the path. Had he been right handed, that structure wouldn't interfere with his swing, so taking relief would be the smart play.

"Phil the Thrill." That about sums it up. It seems sacrilegious to compare the average golfer to Mickelson but when he's out there grinding it out following a bad lie...well, that's something most of us can relate to, which probably goes a long ways in explaining why he's so loved on the tour. He's a Hall of Famer no doubt but there is a part of him that is a part of us.

Unfortunately, age is catching up. It's highly likely that this year (2019) is his LAST CHANCE to win the US Open and complete the grand slam. I wish he had left his driver in the bag on 18 at Winged Foot in 2006! All he needed was bogey to win! A 3 wood would have all but guaranteed him the victory -- but that's not Phil. The course called for driver. Course management called for the 3-wood given his score when he stepped into the tee box. Phil chose driver, double-bogeyed, and handed the trophy to Geof Ogilvy who's not famous for anything else in this life as far as I know. BUT -- this is the same reason we love Phil.

I'm surprised the shot at The Masters he hit from behind the trees not sure which hole it was but it was crazy. if they make a new one of his amazing shots his shot in 3rd round of the 2016 Open Championship when he was right up against the thick bushes and they were saying he had no chance of advancing the ball and his best bet was to try to hit it right handed and hit it sideways back on to the fairway & he took an iron and was making some wierd swings and different stances to try to figure out how to make contact and he had 1 little slot his club could go through but they said it couldn't be done and then he went full swing and advanced the ball well over 100+yards down the fairway. I have to say that was the best shot I have ever saw. he didn't make the green but he has spectacular eye and hand cordination to be able to take a full swing and take full shot. The announcers were amazed that he was able to pull it off.
@charliediamond74158 жыл бұрын
I think it was Bubba who was behind the trees in the masters. It was 2012 on the 2nd playoff hole
@chuckie02238 жыл бұрын
No. I don't think Phil was better than Bubba either I don't know how he was able to draw a lofted I'm pretty serum wedge that much. The Michelson Shor I'm talking about was on the Par.5 13th hole in 2010 I think FL. Round but not sure he was ery close to 1 tree in front of him on the Pinestraw & There was another tree it looked about 10 feet in front little to left I assume he went right between the 2 trees it was his 2nd shot sl he could have laid up instead he went for it and landed it just over the water on the green probably inside 10 feet probably 5 ft very close it's always hard to tell distance on TV. Sir Nick Faldo and the announcers were shocked. in my personal opinion if was top 3 shots I saw at the Masters ever 3. would be Phil shot it's hard to pick between others so I will give tie Bubba's banana hook on the. 2nd playoff hole. with wedge & Tigers chip on 16 the last par 3 that Nike used forever in Commercials because of it pausing with the NIKE Swoosh for sec. before it fell in.
@NueveCatorce8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it was definitely 11th or 13th at the Masters. But you're not going to see any shots from that tournament in any of these videos from the PGA Tour channel since they don't own the rights (i think CBS owns them i don't know, im not from the USA). Same as you're not going to see any of those other shots you mention from Tiger and Bubba on this channel either.
@Gyle413868 жыл бұрын
It was 13 at Augusta in 2010, from the pinestraw. Just an unbelievable shot (shame he missed the eagle putt). The gap he had to hit through was minuscule.Those never show up on these lists, though, because they always exclude the majors. Something about who paid for the rights to the footage, I'm sure.
@monny18157 жыл бұрын
The clips don't include major titles that's why most of those aren't there, shot at the 13th from the pine straw at Augusta was definitely up there
