Has to be David Fricke. Sounds exactly like him and the details he’s conveying are spot on and would be from someone with his knowledge

I was lucky enough to have met Phil Ramone in 2007, when my American dad and I went on a summer trip to New York City. My trip to New York City was actually for me to meet Frank Filipetti, the producer of artists like James Taylor and Carly Simon. I happened to meet Phil Ramone quite by chance, as he was also in the studio that day. Better yet, I even got to meet Phil's son, BJ. My American Dad asked them, "Are you of any relation to the Ramones?". He was of course referring to Johnny and Joey Ramone. Phil looked at him and said with a smile, "Yeah, my son and I are the original Ramones!". Phil was such a sweet guy, and I wish he was still here.

Absolutely amazing interview and insight. The questions were as informative as the answers; rarely have we seen such mastery (Johnny Carson was outstanding at this as well) in the media. True talent on display here, and I feel privileged to have grown up listening to the fruit of their behind-the-scenes labors, without realizing at the time as much as I do now what a privilege it truly was...and still is. Thank you so much for sharing this.

They should have put up subtitles for the part where they muted the song so we can follow thier discussion.

Great interview with a great producer. Interesting his remark on the great closing album gem "Everybody Has A Dream". That gospel feel against Billy's great lead vocal consisted of four of the best vocalists on the planet at that time. An all- star quartet of backing vocals in the form of Phoebe Snow, Lani Groves, Patti Austin & Gwen Guthrie. While the song would have made a great choice to be released as a late single from the album, among those who actually was listening were Mr. Joel's label mates- the legendary vocal group the Manhattans who then decided to put their own stamp on the song. With that gospel feel of the original upfront & center in the form of the groups lead singer the one & only Mr. Gerald Alston.

Very influential. How much $ was he paid for producing such influential records? What did he think of rap music and how would he react to today's lousy pop music scene.
