Phil is stunned to find Miss Kay bleeding profusely when she wakes him up after a goodnight kiss for their dog goes awry. An ER worker chews Phil out for not wearing a mask, and he is NOT having it. I was the 2.5 hour traveler who got to meet Alan and Lisa. Absolutely wonderful! There is nothing more impressive then meeting people who you’ve seen on TV or heard on podcasts and to find out that they truly are the same genuine people that they portray on those media sites. @@chrisw422 you are right. They should have been worried about the blood and getting her injuries stitched. The masks aren’t clean after we have to wear them repeatedly. I worked in outpatient surgery center in a well known hospital in central Virginia, registering patients during the worst of covid. We were allowed 1 mask a week unless it was actually visibly soiled. Tests are showing the masks with Hep C, etc. and then we touched and adjusted them for a week. Sure, we had hand sanitizer, washed our hands, but think how nasty the masks were and are. And don’t get me started on the cloth ones. LOL

@@newman793I'll keep it simple. N95 "filters" down to .3 microns, CV is .125 microns, surgical and homemade masks catch as much a sand thrown at a fishing net. N95 is at best 35% effective IF properly fitted and new, after a few hours is useless. 90+% do NOT fit a n95 properly. Do the math.

old ER nurse here.... helped with a lot of dog bites and other maladies had to call a plastic surgeon to fix - picked up a couple of pointers along the way - take a 4X4 sterile gauze....fold and make a 'pillow .... tape it in place with your antibiotic ointment so won't stick.....tape so it is a little (slight) 'tight' with pressure on the cut..... will help drain fluid accumulation for a few days and keep the suture line flat.....also..... keep sun off it for 6 mos..... sun screen after the cut heals....so the pigment won't change .... best of luck

I rescued an abused and tortured pit bull from Maricopa County AZ a year or so ago... he is so gentle and such a sweetheart...I love him, but I’m always aware he can easily rip my face to shreds...it’s so hard to not want to kiss and nuzzle that sweet face, tho... I pray that Miss Kay has an easy recovery and gets to feeling better. I was so relieved to hear that Miss Kay and the family understood that Bobo didn't mean anything by it and he will still be a part of the family. I had a dog in high school, a cairn terrier, that bit my face pretty bad. Probably could've used a few stiches but I just kept it clean and let it heal. Still have the scar to this day. It was my fault though, I was in his face and ignored the warning signs. We didn't punish him and he was a loved member of our family and he lived out his days in happiness with us

When I was a kid in the 80s my father saved his buddy’s dog from the fate of a chicken killer. I’m the guy that loves all dogs, and this poor scared pup didn’t get the memo. I pulled him out of the doghouse he was hiding in, and he nipped me on the face. Then I had to plead with my father to not grant the dog the fate he was saved from. That old pup was not the happiest but he put up with me for years. Prayers for full recovery for Ms K. I didn’t realize until listening to your podcast, after hearing that Adam Carolla was on your podcast, that Paul was basically Darth Vader until Jesus said “I’ve got a job for you.” Years of hearing Paul’s fifth letter to the whoever, I never paid attention. Trying to pay attention in your 40s is a start I guess.

The exact thing happened to my mom when she was little. She was doing her homework, dropped a paper, reached for it and it suddenly woke her little boxer up (Tiny) and he took a chunk out right above her eye on her brow. My grandfather took him to the pound the next day and said "We aren't going to have a dog around that bites us.". Happy Miss Kay is ok.

When Phil started describing Miss Kay's injuries, the first thing that went through my mind was...one of the dogs did it. I have had that happen on a smaller scale several times (almost always having parents say something like "Well then, keep the dog out of your face." ) I'm much more careful now. I'm praying for Miss Kay and for her healing and that the antibiotics aren't too rough on her.

I did the same thing !!! Had a 19 year old little brown terrier mix dog named Libby Dog who was blind with cataracts and mostly deaf too. She was lying on the couch sleeping and she started dreaming and woofing in her sleep. This 6’3” 285 lb old man crawled over to the couch and was watching her. She looked so peaceful but she was dreaming and kind of light barking. My dumb self decided I’d put my cheek up against hers because she’s so sweet. Bad Decision !!! The second my face touched hers... she came up growling and biting. I only got slobber on my face but she almost bit it off. I felt like an idiot !!!! She probably thought whatever she was dreaming about had caught her. Scared both of us !!! Tell Miss Kay I hope she heals well ! I’ll keep her in my prayers. Jim in Tennessee

Our son did almost the exact same thing when he was 3 years old (he’s 43 now 😊) He bounced his elbows on the front of the sofa where our 2 year old Boston Terrier (Cricket), who was also Cricket’s best buddy, was sleeping. He did it to give Cricket some love, but it startled Cricket and he reacted like a lot of dogs do….defensively….and accidentally nipped our son on his cheek. Cricket immediately realized his error and even tried comforting our crying son. Cricket was definitely upset that he had made his best friend cry. We too took a trip to the ER for a couple of stitches. Our son learned not to abruptly disturb Cricket when he was sleeping and the two were even closer until Cricket passed away of old age.
