Yeah ya know Cliff Williams ain't with them anymore either. ACDC is changing way too much. OK Bon died and it happens. Malcolm got achievers and that happens too. Thr only one left is Brian ND Angus Brian Johnson is good but not Bon Scott. But still ACDC. So maybe it's time for that real last farewell tour and let the legend live on. I hate the Ten thousandth last concerts from any band.

As a life long AC/DC fan who also plays drums, let's not get crazy; Phil is expendable. There's a reason no great drummer ever cites him an an influence.

@@ikigai47 Whos a great drummer? What makes a good drummer? The best drum line i have ever heard that impresses me is Children of the Grave by Black Sabbath. That is bad ass. I used to play guitar and now play bass. I am more than happy to lay back and pump out 1/8th notes with some fill ins and walk ups and downs or some triplets every now and then. Even tried country but damn. I have played with quite a few drummers that tried to do way too much to "stand out" and it sucks because I become percussion and keeping the beat. Guitar doesnt matter too much. Bass matters more than guitar but drums? Everyone can tell the screw up. I am like Lemmy on this one. Intro, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, 20 second solo (if that long) chorus and outro and end it.

are you kidding? I've heard many drummers do exactly what he does after a couple years of playing. I do think his simplistic approach works really in AC/DC
@freepressright
@freepressright 9 ай бұрын
@toddlavigne6441 no, not kidding. Groove and feel is something that either you have, by nature, or you grow into. 30 years of playing out in more cover bands and tribute bands than I can count, you have a lot of "good" drummers who still don't understand the nuances of driving a groove. Having a meter that's in touch with feel at all times is an attribute of a seasoned/mature musician, in many cases. It's more than playing a 4/4. Rudd managed to have a certain swagger and feel -- one thar was noticeably absent or vastly different when Simon Wright and Chris Slade were in the band. Slade had a fast meter. A lot of those songs lost their feel. Slade's strength though was how he could carry or push a shuffle groove. There's far more to playing than just playing the song outright. Mastering feel is something some musicians who have been playing for years and years still don't understand. It took me pairing up with a Vic Wooten trained bassist about 15 years ago to really teach me just how much groove matters. In everything.

@@toddlavigne6441 I know it's been two years but I want to add in the Chris Slade was no slouch. There's a video of him and the band keeping a rhythm for like 10 straight minutes while Angus was working out some guitar problems. His endurance was amazing

@@thomasdaniels6824 I have to admit I think I have a negative bias against Phil Rudd because I don't like him as a human being. Chris Slade, I think is a good, good drummer. What a gig to play with a band like AC/DC What an accomplishment. But when people call Phil Rudd, the best?? That's a relative thing I suppose. He got the job with AC/DC and stuck with it. Good decision. He did a good job as their drummer. Kudos to them both. Living their dream.
