I loved the story about the fish fry. 25 years ago I met Jase at Phil and Kay’s house to talk about an aluminum pirogue. He invited me to spend the night, go to church and fishing the next day. He didn’t know me from Adam. These guys are truly the real deal.

When I was 11, I got sucked into a culvert that went through a low water bridge in a river. I somehow managed to grab and hang on to the edge of that bridge with my fingertips. I was fully submerged, and my entire body was inside the culvert, trying to get sucked in with an incredible force from the pressure. My dad rushed over and saw my fingertips, and he reached down and grabbed my arms. He's a pretty stout guy, but he failed to pull me out on his first try. He told my mom that he was afraid of ripping me in half. He finally managed to pull me out on his second try. My torso was all skinned up from the edge of the culvert. It was the scariest moment in my life, and I believe I probably would've drowned if I didn't catch the side of that bridge and had my dad not pulled me out. The next day we saw a hefty man trying to walk his canoe around the edge of the bridge. He got close to the culvert and it sucked him under, and his arms were sticking up out of the water. A woman in the canoe screamed "Heeelp!" My dad started high stepping over there, but the guy managed to get himself out. He had a big outline around his gut where his gut plugged the whole culvert. Then roughly 7 years ago, there was a story in the paper where a little 4 year old girl got sucked into that culvert. Her dad, who was in his 40's went in and got her out, but he was unable to get out himself and drowned. I hate that bridge and culvert. I wish they'd replace it with a better design bridge that doesn't have them.

Running and flooding is a serious danger, we deal with those same culverts where I live, this spring my 14 year olds puppy got sucked through one and came out fine, She freaked out, but was smart enough to not try to save the pup. Life is full of risks and dangers, we must do our best to avoid death.

Listen to every podcast I possibly can. On one podcast Phil was speaking about New Zealand and that they must have never heard of the Jesus story. I went to New Zealand on a missionary journey with others from the church back in 1968. There were established congregations already in Wellington and Christchurch. Once you clear pipe can't you put a sturdy mesh wire at end of whole pipe opening to prevent beaver blockage and when you want to bring down the slab to stop water from leaking out you can. Just thinking maybe helpful.
