Brothers, I agree with your understanding regarding our sisters in Christ. What concerns me is your characterization, i.e., “ritualistic” and “legalistic”, of those who held or hold a different understanding of how women should behave in our gatherings. Again, while I agree with your understanding of our sisters being co-workers, I wish you were a bit more conciliatory toward those with a different understanding. There was a time when I held a restrictive view of “women in church”. I didn’t do so out of a legalistic or ritualistic viewpoint. To the contrary, I thought I was doing my best to adhere to God’s Word. I did so, in ignorance, not in terms of some other motive. Look, have you ever changed your opinion on some other verse in the Bible. Gee, I hope you have. I’ve never met with a congregation thinking that they have “arrived” in terms of perfect understanding of God’s Word. Rather, I have met with loving people trying their best to live a life in Christ and who search the scriptures as a guide to do so. I meander, lol, but let’s be careful attaching names or characterizations to brothers and sisters in Christ. Let’s teach and encourage one another and guard against any suggestion of condescension. I hope my comments aren’t viewed as scolding. I hope my comments are viewed as one brother talking to another, gently and tenderly.

So true about the importance of small/individual discipleship. I actually did it it kind of backwards, started in a moderate/big church then when the youth pastor branched off & started his own church we went w/him. About 20 of us currently meet in his backyard. We do fellowship/fun days & service projects .. as well as normal Sunday services. If God provides an opportunity for a building someday great but that’s not our main focus. We tithe & much of that money goes to serving the community & ministries overseas. I love that Sunday’s are more of a conversation rather than one guy preaching to us.. and I love that we can’t just pop in & out.. we’re pretty much forced to engage & participate which for some requires stepping out of their comfort zone.. but that’s what God wants us to do.. BE the church…do life together everyday .. serve others & glorify Him in all of it.

I have served in various ways in independent baptist churches my whole life. I have enjoyed the family on tv ever since discovering duck dynasty and the humor of uncle Si and Jase is kinda funny too. Y’all have continually encouraged me thru the Holy Spirit in this podcast. I don’t believe it, but unfortunately many fundamentalist Christians say you’re a false prophet and church of Christ is teaching some false doctrine, perhaps an overemphasis on baptism. I say your church offers a different angle, a radical unashamed way of introducing the Lord of all.. the Lord Jesus Christ.. I’m pretty sure machine gun preacher Sam Childers is unimpressed by the legalistic crowd too, Jase.

This is a interesting topic. In the church I grew up in they are currently debating whether or not to have women take on roles in the church such as preaching. They claim that they haven't till now cause they are concerned that women will give info that is misleading. Well men who preach in churches have given misleading information about the surety so I don't get it. I think it s wrong to prevent women from being the church and doing things such as preaching. I think that if God has called them to take on such a role then they should be able to do so and I am sure that any woman who is called by God to preach would have enough common sense to research and study before they step in front of the pulpit. Wow these words are coming to me so easily and I feel so strongly about this. The church I grew up in recently changed their name from using the word Mennonite to using the word community but at the end of the day they still have old fashioned beliefs when it comes to women

In the Bible speaking in a church context is talking about teaching.Teaching implies authority. It was the spiritual leaders of the church who would teach the congregation of believers. Now I believe Paul especially in 1 Tim 2:11-15 taught and really all of the Bible teaches there is to be male authority in the home and in the church. To have a woman get up and share what is happening in her ministry doesn't mean she is the pastor or one of the pastors. I would have had no problem with a young woman sharing.

Titus was to teach the young men to be self controlled. One thing I have noticed in my own life and in youthful men is they have energy, tons of it, but they don't have the maturity to focus their energy towards the right matters. Oh my word! Jase is just too much. He said that he would have put his fist up if those Christian men from that European church that Al went to visit would have tried to kiss him with a holy kiss. So funny. LOL

Some of the very traditional Mennonites and Amish still practice the Holy Kiss.

They're talking about mega-churches. The focus they miss is church planting. They stay mega when the area is desperate for small local churches.

1 Timothy 2:10-15 (KJV) But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

@@dfischer5878 "God allowed things due to the hardening of ones heart"? This makes no sense. What does this have to do with a man selling his daughter and Gods rules that go along with it?
@dfischer58783 жыл бұрын
@@bipslone8880 pretty simple we are all sinners even then. God gives us up to our sin. Why is it that you think He should stop all of our behavior? He showed His love for us by taking on flesh and atoning for our sin. If it’s justice your seeking I can assure you it will come.

Jase and his brother got to resolve their issues it's clear the other guy is constantly trying to dominate him and the father! Let's take a note from the Bible and love eachother so the podcast doesn't have to leak out family disruption amongst brothers. Someone needs to give in and they need to figure out who is in the wrong!

When I first came to the Lord my Dad and I went to a men's meeting at our campground in Clay City IN. Somebody brought up this verse about greeting each other with a Holy Kiss so they got the idea we would do that for a few minutes. I was spinning out and dodging trouble. Phil would have been proud of me. It's the one time I looked like a football player.

It was explained to me that it WAS a cultural thing because men were seated on one side of the church and women on the other and it was keeping wives from talking across the way to their husbands. Or sons or whoever. I don't know why that would just apply to women though. There's always mouthy men around lol. Just sayin'

Hebrews 13:8 and Malachi 3:6 God does not change and He has made clear distinct roles for women in the hone and church. If God meant it to be for that culture He would have said so.
