I am retired law enforcement Jase! Here is my opinion, I think you are right, but I am not in Louisiana. I think because you had the seatbelt on, but not the shoulder strap, you are ok. When I was working, common sense is a major factor in your decision along with the law. I have had run a run in with a cop since I retired that was disgusting. He was rude and unprofessional. And I made sure I followed up on that. There is no reason to be unreasonable. Take Uncle Si with you to Court, film that sucker it will be hilarious 😂! Good luck, we can't wait for the conclusion!

Jase, probably would have gotten off with a warning IF he had simply stated he didn't realize it was actually against the law. But the second he started arguing about the wording of the ticket and then throwing a sermon at the officer, it was over for him. Never tell an officer what you feel the punishment should or should not be or how to enforce the law. Officers have a lot of options on how they handle situations...until a person presses the issue too far. We all have done things we didn't know was against the rules. Sometimes we don't get caught. Sometimes we get caught with no consequences. Sometimes we have consequences to pay. Fact is, a rule was broken and there's a cost to that. This never should have reached this level and the person that told you to fight it, better be right there in court with you. I am not a lawyer or a cop. Just a 62 year old man, speaking from my own life experiences. I wish you well either way your case goes.

I don't see how that affected anything when he already wrote him a ticket. He just needed to meet his quota and he thought he could use the seatbelt as an excuse and get him for something bigger. That's is how the system works. No matter how much you abide by the law you will still break one cause they create so many you can't avoid them. It's all for revenue not to keep us safe or any of that bs. And even if you don't break the law they can still arrest you make you pay to get out then get a lawyer just to be told it's being thrown out. The system is corrupt.

Something to consider: Sin is based on what is against God! What is against God is also what is harmful to us. God loves you when He hates sin. God loves you when He sent His Son to pay the debt of your sin for us to have peace with Him in His loving righteousness. How can we be ok with sin and not strive against it knowing this? How can we think God is ok with sin if He sent His Son to be sacrificed to pay the debt of sin? How can we not strive against sin even though we do sin at times? How can we see God’s grace as a blanket for sin rather than the goodness of God teaching us to turn from ungodliness? To strive against sin, even though we fail at times. How can we doubt our salvation if we believe in Jesus to save us from our sins? How can we doubt God loves us first, while we are sinners, knowing this truth? Our faith works through God’s love for us, not fear in the judgment of the law.. So let’s understand why sin is bad and we should not sin. God loves you and wants what is good for you! God is love and sin against God and harms us. Work out your salvation in this truth and intent! God loved you first and our faith works through His love for us; which is made known in Jesus death and resurrection for our salvation while we are ungodly..
