Fantastic podcast! I've started a weekly bible study with some family members and we were just discussing the importance of having God and Jesus in your hearts. Bible verses mean nothing if you do have a personal relationship with God that goes beyond hearing or reading the Bible. I've sent this podcast to that same group of family members. Thank you. 💜

I agree that scaring children with hell fire and brimstone is not the way to save children. I was saved as a child under that type of sermon. I was a backslider for years and I questioned my salvation for quite a while. I believe that we have to present Christ in a more positive manner than in the past, however, not candy coat it as the world wants us to do. Yes, God is a God of justice, but He also said suffer unto us the little children. God is waiting to return giving everyone a chance to come to know Him and accept His free gift. Y'all do a great job of discussing the Word of God.

I’m surprised at y’all actually. When I drive past those funny signs it makes me smile and gives me a positive outlook on the church. They have a sense of humor. None of those are literal you guys! 😂. I would think the last place an unbeliever would be inclined to go is somewhere that the sign out front is not inviting. The interest has to be sparked for them to be interested. I can’t believe I’m saying this after laughing ALOUD WITH YOU GUYS so hard but lighten up! Lol. Kudos to all who have the funny signs! Laughter is good & very healing. About the camp, everyone needs to be met where they are, even kids. What’s important to a person is simply that, important to them. What they may have needed was help with the big picture, of learning the awesome, all-encompassing, beauty of the creator. I believe God opens our hearts and eyes in slow measures. Camp is like God’s garden, a place for seeds to be planted, watered, nurtured and then harvested. Each child counselor parent worker etc, are in a different place in their growth.

Before I gave my life to God I had always thought everyone made it into heaven when they died. I believed that it didn’t matter what I did or how much I sinned, God loved me and “no one is perfect.” It wasn’t until someone pulled me aside and spoke to me about hell and the consequences of sin that I decided that I didn’t want to live a life of sin anymore. I say this to say that I agree: there definitely needs to be a balance between the topic of Heaven and hell. We can’t talk more about one eternity than we do the other. So let’s not erase the topic of hell altogether, for it could be the very thing that saves someone.

I go to a recovery church where the pastor preaches mostly about the love of God because of the type of congregation and, coupled with the bible, meetings and programs, the congregation is coming to know God as the Higher Power, and, as a result surrendering to Him by giving their lives over to the will of the Lord Jesus Christ and helping others as themselves to come to the Light. Sad to say, some of them could not overcome and have gone back to the lifestyle and ultimately have passed away sometimes with a needle in their arm or stepping in front of a train to commit suicide here in NYC.

Brother Phil I understand your fear of God. Think about this. John was the closest friend, the one that laid his head on Jesus breast at the Last Supper, he was the Lord's bosom buddy. If anyone would have felt like he would just run up and give the Lord a hug when he saw him, this is what happened to him when he saw him in all his glory, no longer the lowly Galilean, and the crucified malefactor. John was overwhelmed when He revealed Himself as the Lion of Judah and fell down as a dead man before the one who now holds the keys of Death and Hades as John wrote in Revelation 1:17-18 CSB When I saw him, I fell at his feet like a dead man. He laid his right hand on me and said, “Don’t be afraid. I am the First and the Last, [18] and the Living One. I was dead, but look - I am alive forever and ever, and I hold the keys of death and Hades. I want him to lay His mighty hand on me and say to me those beautiful words...Do not be afraid" No one wants to be in this position and had the opportunity to follow Him and refused, because in the other hand He has the keys to Hell. Be afraid, be very afraid and do not spurn His grace and mercy in this life. It won't end well. Love you guys!

Proverbs 22:6 says start or teach a child in the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. It is imperative that we teach our children in the way of the Lord and that there is a heaven and there is a hell. The crucial word here is teach, not scold. I see articles in the news on famous Hollywood stars who say they are giving their children the room to find themselves, meaning they let the world tell their children who they are. That is exactly why those kids don't know if they are male or female. Teaching your child who God is and what He expects from us is the most important lesson you can teach them.

Verse 34 indicates a promise 35 a command and verse 37 indicates a prophecy.

Fear is the beginning of wisdom but perfect love casts out all fear. It is the goodness of God that brings men to repentance. We need the fear to understand our need for the Savior. But I believe true and lasting conversion or repentance comes from the grace and love overwhelming us that He would love us even though we are wretched.

As kids we listen and learn about Jesus, but that knowledge is purely academic.......until one actually feels the presence of Jesus in ones center mass during a period of intense distress. When you beg for his help to overcome that terrible distress, and an extreme calm and peaceful feeling comes to you, you then know He is very very real, and will always be with you, no matter what.
