I married an unbeliever, and one day out of the blue, she walked out the door and left me with 3 kids and all of our responsibility and she’s never looked back, really changed my life and did a number on my children. We survived the storm, but she kept the chaos going for years to come, as she became an alcoholic and drug addict, and did unmentionable things that were impossible to hide from my kids. Make sure you know who you’re entering into life with, before you find yourself cleaning up messes and sheltering your kids from complete insanity. Jesus has seen me through and my kids have learned many valuable, yet sad lessons over the last 20 years, but they are all fine, other than the fact that they don’t have a mom, which has left deep scars.

The sad truth is she was probably already on drugs and that's why she left and decided that the drugs were more important my daddy done that to us drugs and alcohol heart breaking ....but thankfully I got to forgive my daddy and have a relationship with him snd get really close to him for about 10 years before he passed and when he passed away I lost a huge piece of me cause he became my bestfriend it broke my heart so bad and it's been 13 years we'll in August it will be he passed away August 4th and his bday was August 7th he was only 54 he was so happy to making it to 55 he would have been the longest living man in his family he got three days close and passed away which hurt me even more we were just talking about it on th third on the phone its so crazy ..

Years ago when I was going to church at a particular congregation, there was an older lady in the church who was my go-to for adult talks about life, about courting, about marriage, and about sexual relations. She was about 80+/-, and as a Godly woman she could talk and give advice on all of it…without embarrassment, blushing, or a stutter. When that woman passed away in 2003, I felt like I had lost a best friend, advisor, and confidant. Occasionally, I still go to her grave just to visit and have a talk. I don’t believe she is in that grave, but the talks still help me out when I am puzzling life and my marriage.

I come from such a broken family. My parents didn’t raise me, lots of physical and mental abuse, I was never hugged and kissed growing up, I had no authority figure. I feel like I live and work in the lions den everyday, as a High School Teacher in Southern California. This is where I have been called to and I firmly believe in grow where you are planted but I have begun to start my day grading High School work while listening to this KZbin channel. I can't effectively express my gratitude for peace and comfort it brings. I agree with marriage. Don't get married if not equally yoked. I wished I had better roll models to teach me that. 39 years married, I struggle every day with that mistake. I'm praying for you. Fix your eyes on Jesus, invest in your relationship with God. Set your expectations in line with what the heart of God is, in other words, if Christ expects for you to be peaceful in his arms then you can expect the same thing and not be disappointed. Leave the heart changing of your husband up to Yeshua.
@FarfallaSiciliana427 Жыл бұрын
I think a lot of people would if they could change the narrative. I married young. Not sure it was for the right reasons but when my husband cheated I couldn't get passed it - I tried for many years and held that anger and grudge for many many more. All I keep hearing myself say is I wish I came to Yeshua sooner so I could have found that God fearing man and my life would have been so very different. I thought I did find that man about 4 yrs ago, turns out it got exhausted for him to pretend he wasn't a narcissist so when his true colours shined they were blinding - I tried to stay but it was unbearable- now I feel life has passed me by and I will never be able to make those memories and raise that family and share generations of stories with grandchildren and it makes me very sad. I pray for us all. That those in a God made marriage stay respectful, full of life and love and those that are not stay strong, compassionate and patient unless abuse is involved then at that point ask the Almighty to be your strength to save yourself. Good bless you all. Love 😊these podcasts !!!!

Missy - that’s true period. You can’t go into a marriage thinking you’re going to change something about the person you marry. They are who they are and you got into marriage “as is”. So, definitely being equally yoked , especially spiritually is a good thing going into a marriage.
@Iamthathillbilly Жыл бұрын
I agree with what Al said about short engagements, my wife and I got married a month after getting engaged, in a little white church, it wasnt a big show, just a simple wedding, in front of our families and God. And I see where Missy is coming from, marriage is such a blessing if you've got a good partner. I could live a thousand lifetimes and I'd seek her out every time.

My husband and I were virgins too. I didn’t think anyone did that any more, so good for you! But I have to say our wedding night was absolutely beautiful. We’d talked beforehand several times of what our expectations and hopes were for our wedding night which was enlightening because we saw things a bit differently. Like I wanted slow and savory, and he wanted fast and furious. So we decided we’d try my way first and then his next. But it ended up being a combination as the pent up waiting sort of took over. We were just crazy about exploring each other and loved losing control. It was a great beginning that got better and better the more we learned together. We both thought this gift from God was the best thing he could give to a couple. I will say that one thing that really impacted our physical intimacy was each of us wanting to please the other more than ourselves. Such giving is very fulfilling because the more you give, the more comes back to you. Learn to love each other even when you begin learning how flawed you both are…be humble and forgiving, and be willing to do better. Jesus wants us to follow him and keep trying to be more and more like him, so keep striving to improve the little things we do that are hurtful or disappointing. That’s true, deep love. It honors God and honors the marriage to keep improving ourselves. And give each other grace. We all mess up and need grace toward ourselves and for our spouse. (Please note: in no way am I referring to abusive behaviors, whether verbal, physical, mental, or emotional.)

I'm 32 years old now I lost my virginity as a teenager and I've been through some really bad experiences. I have now met my soulmate we would love to get married he's so kind and we both think about and talk about what Jesus would want us to do in regards to marriage and raising a family. Thank you for sharing your story. I don't regret the experiences that I've had it taught me a lot is shaped the person that I am today but I'll be a liar to say that I wouldn't do things different knowing what I know now. Sometimes I reflect back I wish I would have met my soulmate years ago. He is a man of God and that's exactly what I needed in my life and continue to need. Him and I watch you reruns all the time and we talked about how we would do things the way your family does things. I truly believe that when my daddy passed away God sent me my soulmate. Honestly my soulmate could hold me over a bridge and I would trust him. When he says he loves me I believe him and I've never had that before.

I have to tell you, Jase and Missy; you have beautiful voices together. I have the Christmas CD you Robertsons made and I can't bring it to mind now, but it was a song you two sang alone. I colored my hair a couple of times when I was young before I began to have silver hair. My hair at 70 is growing past my shoulders. It looks like silver threads. My sister just 5 years younger has grey hair. She has always colored her hair and straightened her hair. She finally decided to go natural. But she keeps it short and still straightens it. I have always resisted anyone who said, you should color your hair. I love the hair God has given me. I feel extremely blessed.

Hello Robertson Family...I love hearing your wedding stories. Personally I think young people today treat marriage like going steady. That you just break it off no big deal. I was on FB a while back and a topic came up "things that are out of date today" that's not exactly the wording but its close and 1 of the things mentioned was marriage !! that you could just live together... How sad we have fallen...

Thanks to your family for these podcasts bc it really helps me with that grief. You inspire me to want to be better in my walk and relationship with Christ. For that I am thankful to each of you. Just to have something that is real is so refreshing in this day and time. We certainly won’t get it from tv! When you have the love of Christ in your heart and you have the love of your soulmate, you are able to see each other through rose colored glasses and not care what others think of your beauty. But now without him I feel less pretty. I don’t have confidence any longer. I no longer want to wear makeup. So if there is a Christian man who can wear rose colored glasses when he looks at me, that’s the one I MIGHT be interested in.

This was a nice conversation because there was a balance with the men and the women. These sort of topics are necessary because engaged christian couples should discuss what they think m ,arriage should be all about. Instead, a lot of couples focus on the day of the wedding and all the preparations before it. They need to prepare for marriage, so it has a lasting chance. Good work shop Al and Lisa have going.
