Disagree. He was playing amateurs all the way up too a certain point in his career. He would never be able to do that in todays game even the averages are way higher. They were all amateur back then and yes there was great players but not on a consistent basis than what u see today. Instead of manley u would have Clayton or price in quarters and sorry but Phil wouldn't get his mind games working on them. Loves it when he is winning but when he I losing he acts like an arse hole and for as good a darts player he is he is an arrogant man and a horrible human being. Basically told the world mvg had problems trying to conceive with his wife. Sorry but that's the kind of shit u don't say on the tv after u have just beat him. Its like he takes every opportunity to get his dogs in and when u watch mvg talking after a match he couldn't be more respectful. I used to dislike mvg but listening to the guy he is actually a really sound guy were as phil is just an arrogant arse hole. OK for him to fist pump when he brakes a trhow but makes hand gestures and silly looks to him family when mvg does it. Really sore loser and a horrible man. Rant over 😂

@Reece Taylor-Lock we can say with almost 100% certainty that there will never be a better player, especially when it comes to wins. There’s too much talent in darts now, lots of skilled players around now, this means lots of tournament upsets with big names going out and titles will constantly be won by different players. Taylor dominated everything he did, closest we have seen to another player like him is Michael van Gerwen a few years ago, but he has since lost his form and isn’t what he used to be. Taylor never lost form, not with his records

@Reece Taylor-Lock most of his records will never be broken. Especially the World titles. The standard of play these days is miles above what it used to be. There’s more good players around now and this will mean there’s always going to be different world champions and upsets in tournaments The closest we have seen to another phil Taylor is when MVG had his spell a few years ago, back when he nearly hit the back to back 9 darters and broke the world record for highest average. That MVG was unplayable, but he hasn’t been able to keep his form because of his commitment to his family

End of an era for phil, nothing good lasts forever. Phil does not have to prove anything anymore, he's done it all and nobody will better him in wins. When phil's friend eric bristow died it would not be the same for him anymore and so he lost interest in playing in tournaments.

It's not going to happen and shouldn't happen, face facts yes he's a legend but it was obvious at the end he wasn't the player he once was, he's not going to have got any better in his years off, the overall talent in the game is so much higher now than It was even when he retired he wasn't dominant then so now he would be lucky not to embarrass himself if he did come back.
