I've heard so many say you shouldn't perform with sheet music. Well Mr. Phil Woods and the rest of the band have charts in front of them, and I honestly can't understand why they shouldn't. If you're playing material that you haven't worked on to the point of absolute memorization it's a big help to have a road map you can refer to. Great job!

+Glenn Michael Thompson they are playing arrangements and reading charts. people shouldn't play jazz tunes with charts, that is like a small group that's what folks mean. Calling standards or tunes, people shouldn't be reading that. but here they are reading charts arranged for this.

ok everyone, we have here a master on this instrument; his history and knowledge is of great value, even the introductory stories. We also have what appears to be a public address system! I've listened only to the introduction, perhaps I should continue; the sound can only get better; yes!

Honestly I liked the other alto player much better than phill. He was even more in tune on the first song. Just my opinion....

+Mauriciovideomaker Phil had been suffering with lung disease, and needed an oxygen tank, and was a much weaker Phil Woods physically than previous. and had recently switched to Yamaha so he could play. The other guy can really play, yet we can hear his main influence and nod is to Phil Woods. Phil was a saxophone master, and his pure feel and style here were his. So we are listening to a cat who studied Phil Woods, and also to the aging master who created Phil Woods. So I give Mr. Woods my props.
