You're a brave man Cap. My grandmother lived on Charles Street, 5300 block. Had that nice driveway across from the cemetery she would grow vegetables and had a peach tree in her yard. This was in the 70's and 80's that neighborhood has really changed and I'm being polite.

It seems most in America are immune to what their cities have become. I can go to any neighborhood is Seoul or any city in Korea at 2AM and not think about some crime happening to me or around me, worst thing you will see are drunks fighting but that's not to say they don't have the occasional mentally ill person commit a crime but it is rare. The citizens of Korea would not accept their country looking like cities in the U.S., their cities here are very modern, no homeless encampments, no one doing drugs on the streets, no smash and grabs, no gun violence, no muggings, no making heroes of lifelong criminals that have effected so many people in a negative way in there life, etc... it just feels safe and you feel free to walk around anywhere here at anytime without fear. I was on a recent trip to the U.S. and saw a homeless person sleeping in front of an elementary school while kids were arriving for classes, just sad. Japan and many other countries in these parts are the same way, crime is not tolerated period. I came to South Korea the first time more than 33 years ago and it felt like a 3rd world country, now when I return to the U.S. it feels like the 3rd world country, again sad that citizens keep voting leaders that accept this. I was born in Upland Buro PA and have an attachment to this area but am amazed at what Phili looks like today.

Well it helps that the Koreans all know Taekwondo and they would open a Can of Whoop Ass on you if you tried anything.

That Hostess Store is where you would buy the day old bread and they would also have good deals on the snack items. Used to shop the Hostess Store when I could as it was not in the town I lived in.

Here in Chicago, the city leased the parking meter business for 75 years for a billion dollars. The company that leased it has already made their money back. Lease has 61 years to go. The City does the enforcement. The company gets the money. We have speed cameras, red light tickets that the city makes money on. Enjoyed the tour.

I went into a gas station once and the owner thought I stolen something and he made take everything out of my pockets. He called the cops on me because I had a small pocket swiss army knife on me. The cops came and were real nice then I left.
