Phil, as a Kiwi with a a Finnish partner, you nailed the tourism intel. Can confirm excellent gravel roads, still rideable through a long season and also on snow if you’re able to fit spiked tyres with clearance. Summer cabins in summer, Sauna & Alcohol in winter. Wildlife you will find early AM in spring.

I used to work for a Finnish company (Suunto) The fingineers always told us that there was no Finnish word for 'please'. They also were slightly dour people, maybe because Garmin was kicking their ass.

That is true. Techically you can use word 'kiitos', but it isn't used in the sentences the same way as 'please'. That's why Finnish people tend to forget to use the word please in their English, there is no 'please' in Finnish translation of the sentence.

As a Finn, I just want to point out that great gravel roads are literally everywhere. I live in Helsinki and there's an awesome gravel road 50 meters from my doorstep. Nothing special about that. 😂

Barnacle geese. If you want to see puffins, you need sea cliffs topped with turf. I recommend Unst in the Shetland Islands, but there are probably easier places to get to. I think the puffin population of Finland is zero. Maybe Emily was thinking of Moomins?

People will get these two species quite often mixed, but it's a barnacle goose. They are quite plentiful in the parks, as the mowed grassfields (that are also unused) are like the best place to hang out for them.
