My 2019 Phil’s cookie fondo was a supreme chocolate chip experience. I met Phil, his mom, his now wife, Jeremy Powers, Tyler Pearce- and it all felt like we had been friends forever. The food the ride everything was supreme. I’m saving up for my son’s college so I have to skip this year, BUT next year I turn 50 on October 28th, so in the words of your esteemed former governor, “I’ll be back”

Well that was fun to watch you travel those routes. In the 80s those were my club training roads. Conejo Velo Club, we were called and put on fundraisers that took advantage of the coastal roads. Cruisin the Conejo was one, Climbing the Conejo was the other. Lots of great memories. Enjoy! I moved to Minnesota some long while ago otherwise I would join you.

11:55 - I'm one of those collarbones. Totally my fault bombing way too hard on the last downhill of the day on Deer Creek Road while being tired. Phil being Phil, he was super nice afterwards and I can't say anything other than this was one of the great rides I've done in my life! Cookies were great, too!

Not to detract from all the great Mailbu climbs but for those who are visiting and don't know the climbs like Little Tujunga, Big Tujunga, Camp 9, Cloudburst, highway 39 then I'd say give those a shot too. I think the highway 39 climb up to the Angeles Crest is one of my favorites from when I lived out there. The gate is sometimes closed which makes it even better. Dawson Saddle is where it ends - after the section which is usually closed but can easily be ridden. There are bighorns up there too!

Looking forward to it! I did the Chocolate Chip in 2019 and will be back to do it again this year. There were quite a few riders walking up Potrero when it was near the start of the route, so putting it at mile 70 is indeed a bit inconsiderate but thanks for the reminder to consider installing a larger cassette...

I’m going to attempt the sugar cookie. I tried out the westlake blvd climb last Sunday as recon. It’s going to be tough, since I’m recovering some fitness and I’m not the best climber yet. We’ll see how it goes.

Just a little geography help. If you look at a map Oxnard is really west of Thousand Oaks, not north. Being that it’s along US101 north confuses people but the whole coast of California from Malibu to Point Conception runs pretty much East to West.

Haha agreed but explain that to the 101

LA is so dry right now that I thought you were riding in Tucson. On that note, you should try for the KOM of Mt. Lemmon this winter!

Phil already said he won't go for Mt. Lemmon again. He said he is satisfied with Sanders having the KOM (assuming he still has it).
