In a slightly different approach, Philip used the Tone King Imperial MKII plugin as a pedal platform with the following signal chain.
Philip used his 1963 Stratocaster "Big Daddy" connected to an Echoplex EP3, Cesar Diaz Square Face Fuzz, TS9 Tubescreamer, Vox Wah, and Pedal Pawn Gypsy Vibe. After the pedals it went into an Acme Audio Motown direct box, then a BAE 1073 mic pre with no EQ engaged, then into the input channel with the Tone King plugin. For the mix, the Tone King track was sent via hardware insert back through the 1073 with the high pass filter set to 80Hz.

@@z00zibot if you’re after the Fender Tweed tone, Tone King is good for you, it gets there (not entirely but it’s close). If you want the Philip Sayce (or SRV) tone you will need a 68 Fender Super Reverb or Princeton amp to get it plus the pedals of course. Sadly the Tone King plug-in is not built for that, that’s the main reason I didn’t get it although I am a Fender guy. And I am afraid it clearly shows in this clip as well IMHO.

It’s an original ‘63 (September) Strat. Philip owns I think two or three ‘63 Strats, one of them, also heavily beaten up, has vintage white and little burst colouring and calls it “Mother”.

The guitar was in pretty much perfect condition when he acquired it, with a very strange sunburst finish that had way more black than you would typically see. All the wear is from Philip's playing, years of abuse and sweat.
