Saw Phillip at a friends house party in Johnson City, NY a few years back. His show was incredible! I think he is the best blues player out there today. Met him and had a great conversation. Very humble and friendly, down to earth dude!

This was a killer performance! So glad I saw this in person. Would you be able to stitch the entire show together instead of just individual songs?

I admire Philip Sayce's prowess and professionalism but.. this is hard rock, not blues, or at least it's among the hardest rocking tributaries of all the styles within the big tent. I've been enjoying Sean Costello (dec.), Linda Chavez and Lloyd Jones recently, not to mention Robert Cray (OK, I'm a Cray fanatic), and I feel they all are much more satisfying as modern re-interpreters of the best blues traditions. (And I'm really not a "how dare you not worship Robert Johnson, Blind Lemon.., etc.!" kind of guy.)

Alright. Someone please either contact his guitar tech if he has one or have that tech contact me and tell me the secret to not EVER busting the 1st 2nd and 3rd strings when the violence and abuse is given to those strings by as heavy a hand as he uses on them let alone the bends he does and STILL dont snap a damn one. Look i dont wanna hear "lube and a good nut or good tuning machines or any of that hogshit. Somethings been hidden from us and by god i want answers. Please and thanks. Joey

Philip works on his guitars himself. He swears by D'Addario's, that might be part of it. I used to break ernie balls all the time until I switched. I am with you though, I have no idea how he does it. On some of his instagram videos he breaks the 1st and keeps rollin...

@@cliodyncycwatch924 i know i get it but still...hes easily one of the most violent strumming and striking and most of all those monumental bends he consistently does. Ive watched hours upon hours and i still havent seen him snap not even a single high E during a song yet. Only thing i can figure is whichever ones he does manage to pop one, they dont post it for public on any platform at all. Lmao. Only reasonable answer ive came up with

What's that rig he's running through?
@jarecl

Don't quote me on this because I'm not entirely sure, but I was at this show and I remember him saying something about how the band that played after him that night (Nick Perri and The Underground Thieves) let him borrow their gear so that he didn't have to rent gear.
@DirtCityMTB
@DirtCityMTB 2 жыл бұрын
@@jarecl I don’t think Philip was using Nick Perri’s rig. Philip Sayce appears to be using a Fender amplifier (deluxe reverb perhaps), which is plugged into a another Fender head/cabinet. These amps are missing from Nick Perri’s videos, which leads me to believe Philip was using his own amp. He was however borrowing the lights and possibly some other gear.

@@DirtCityMTB Makes sense. He also sounds exactly like he does on other shows so you're most likely correct.
@docc7571
@docc7571 2 жыл бұрын
He is using a ‘68 super reverb with two EAW speaker drivers and two EVM 10M speaker drivers rehoused in a mojotone head and cab, power tubes are ECG/Phillips/Sylvania military grade 6L6GCs and the deluxe reverb is a ‘77 modified with a EVM12L and vintage telefunken 12ax7s and Smoked Glass TungSol 6V6s. I am the tech for Nick Perri and provided this rig for Philip Sayce.
