One of the best on the planet. Also, one of the nicest kindest humans how this guy is not playing sold out arenas in the US it’s just crazy. I don’t know what the hell is going on with the US audience or they just don’t listen to killer guitarist anymore, but they always have a much better following in Europe and they got to go where they can make the money. I hope to see you stateside Philip keep it going buddy we love you.

Could not be a nicer guy. Story time- It was Winter 2012 and I was a sophomore in college in Tennessee. I won a contest with one of the guitar publications (Can't remember the name) based on answering some trivia questions about Philip and winning a drawing. The grand prize was a 60s style Fender Strat in Olympic White with rosewood board and VIP tickets to his show in London. I didn't have the budget to get over to London to make the show at 20 years old, and the magazine had to give up my prize (including the free guitar!!). Well, Philip caught wind of this, didn't like it one bit, and got my phone number. He called me up out of the blue one morning in December 2012 and we talked for half an hour or so about Hendrix, Gary Clark Jr., Eddie Kramer and everything he was working on in Nashville at the time. We never did get to meet in person, but we would continue to text from time to time about gear and tones etc. I remember being blown away at the call, and soon a package showed up at my house with signed cds, shirts and picks. Philip was and continues to be the unsung hero of modern blues guitar and the sweetest dude out there. Great interview. So happy for you my friend!

Fantastic guitarist. It’s cool how candid he is. Really good insights on how to contend with the way being a pro recording artist has changed over the past couple of decades of the Information Age.

SRV I believe had the best tone to ever come out of a Fender. Having listened to Philip for years, no doubt he's up there with Stevie and Jimi. This interview reveals the reason he is not filling arenas, stadiums. Not only is it a disgraceful but disrespectful as well. He is easily one of the best top 3 players out there! Good for him...not selling out. If I had the financial means, I'd fund his touring.
Guess We Need To Talk About GUITAR SMASHING Now.
