Philippe Coutinho - Prove Them Wrong | 2019

So far it’s been a poor season by Phil Coutinho’s standards, it has to be said. He’s been inconsistent and often looked uninterested, while Ousmane Dembélé has taken his place in the starting lineup with some fantastic performances. The doubts over whether Coutinho actually has a position that suits him in Barça’s system grows larger and larger and there have even been rumours about selling him in the summer. I understand the doubts over his preferred position, however I do not understand them over his quality. Phil has proven with Liverpool and in his first season at Barcelona what a fantastic player he is, and if you splash 160M on someone, you should at the very least have the patience to watch him over a full season before making rash decisions. I really hope he can overcome his bad form and get his confidence back because I’m certain he could have a key role to play as we try to become European champions again.

Even if he was in form there is still no such position in our 4-3-3 system that really clicks with his skills. I really feel we bought the wrong guy and for an enormous sum makes it even worse. Coutinho just can't play our CM role, and he's too underwhelming at our wings. Unless he can be a false 9 like Messi then otherwise he won't succeed. I feel we should have bought Eriksen or someone like De Bruyne

After the injury his smoothness kind of disappeared..but I don´t want him to be selled, he ist far to good of a footballer to play for another team.
