I suppose Jodo don't consider him a "spiritual warrior", is so sad.

I did find the mysticism surround the adaption a bit much (not that I wouldn't have loved to have seen it; Jodo is one of my ersonal favourite directors), so it's nice to see Druillet take a no-nonsense approach as an outsider. He's right that the film was way too ambitious regarding special effects, although since animation is now a viable medium, perhaps we'll see Jodorowsky's Dune after all. Can't say I agree with him on his opinion of Dune the book though, lol.

Druillet throwin' shade! This is a great story though

Jodo's Dune had the potential to be the best film ever made - if only Jodo wasn't working on it. He'd have turned it into something entirely abstract that movie effects just weren't available to do convincingly. Sure it would have been great on shrooms though.

"As tiresome as a rainy day." Absolute genius. I think the new Dune film will kind of fizzle. Especially when facing the new Bond film.

I agree, especially on the latter part: most people got all excited about Jodorowsky's Dune because they first came across it through the documentary and that movie plays the "greatest movie never made" card to get the audience emotionally involved. I've been aware of the project since the early 00s and always thought it would've been a disaster had it been made...but Jodorowsky's chances to make it were practically zero: no studio (and he needed Hollywood studio money) would've ever financed a 10-hour movie, let alone a 10-hour surrealistic sci-fi movie full of special-FX. Also, most people freaked out at Lynch's changes to the story, which are pretty minor in the grand scheme of things: Jodorowsky was going to change EVERYTHING. So, yeah, a bouse would've been the most likely outcome. Sorry if I answered in English, but I can only read French (and not too well either).

@@thermonuclearcollider4418 No problem. I happened to hear a whole radio show about Jodorowsky's project recently and learned that he actually said that his film wouldn't be an adaptation, but his own project. He said that he hoped his movie would create a new religion... So a funny, weird looking turd of a movie was definitely the most likely outcome. And now we know that Villeneuve's movie is boring and conventional, I'd say Lynch still holds the most interesting take on Dune.
