aviate, navigate, communicate, in that order, one of the basic rules of aviation. Flying the aircraft ALWAYS takes priority, once the captain and first officers feel safe with the situation will they communicate. keep in mind the first officer is probably talking with atc as well.

@@Peter_S_ Yeah well both you and the person you were originally replying to are both idiots. You two asswipes claim to "know" about aviation? Then why are you doing an Airbus vs Boeing spat based off of engine failures? Both of these companies have almost NOTHING TO DO WITH ENGINES, which they buy from other manufacturers such as Pratt & Whitney, Rolls Royce, etc., so comparing Airbus and Boeing by engine problems is moronic. I'll give you a simple example so that ya'll can understand. Let's say you have a car. Let's say it's a Ford Expedition or something. While driving, your tire explodes. Would you blame Ford? Probably not, since everyone knows they didn't make the tires, they get them from third-party manufacturers. Same thing with aircraft and aircraft engines. Simple as that.

@@ironbloodedalchemist Stop being such a presumptive moron. I was pointing out that engine failures occur on Airbus products too and 2/3 of his point was around a pair of 737 Max crashes having nothing to do with engines. I thought telling him that General Electric Aviation GE90-115B engine involved here was only loosely associated with the airframe and would go over his head, but his point was Airbus was safe and reliable while Boeing was not, which is what I clearly refuted with data. Anybody with a brain looking at that data would know the reality of aircraft engine manufacture. Your pompous response makes me wonder if you posses much in the way of either social ability or critical thinking. ....and just so you know how silly you made yourself look, I used to work for United Airlines as a technician (in the 90s) and my father was an aircraft mechanic for one of the world's largest carriers for his whole career. Dear Passengers I am pretty sure the pilot and crew were too busy trying to make it safely to the airport to answer questions
@michaelwatson113
@michaelwatson113 5 жыл бұрын
The pilot did this absolutely correctly. In an emergency, the priorities for the pilots are: Aviate, Navigate, Communicate. In this case, they needed to do a rapid assessment of the situation, decide that they were going to return to the airport, work through that return with air traffic control, and then immediately begin doing their downwind checks for a safe landing at LAX. Inform the head flight attendant I'm a situation. And then inform the passengers the situation.
@5thGenNativeTexan

The pilots are doing absolutely everything to safely land. @@Migman2020 Sure they have an a350, but I am sure there are many planes can take off perfectly. Now I am not saying that every plane should take off pefectly, they should be able to take off with care and good maintenance. Now the 777 in this video, a misfire is not a major problem, it happens in many guns and combustion engines. A misfire is normally cause by fatigue in the engines or worn out spark plugs. But I would like to inform you that a 777 is a much older design than the a350. An older plane can fly perfectly fine, sometimes better than newer planes, but every plane shouls have good care and maintenance.

No, no he did not. First, he neglected to raise the landing gear after takeoff when he should have, increasing drag while climbing with a crippled engine, adding stress to everything. Then he overshot his mark upon landing while fully loaded with fuel and passengers, putting so much stress on the brakes and tires that the fuse plugs in the tires melted, deflating them. He got the plane down safely, but it wasn't his best day.

The golden rule that all pilots abide by in the exact order is Aviate (Fly the plane) Navigate Communicate Note communicate is at the bottom of the priority list. The principle of “Aviate, Navigate, Communicate” is a fundamental tenet in aviation. There is a reason why Communication is the last one. I love the title. Adding "Boeing" as if Boeing has anything to do with the engines that are on it. It also doesn't matter that the "Boeing" 777 has the distinction of the best safety record of any airline model aircraft. Come on ABC, and you wonder why so many people say your biased. Even though your intentions suck, the way you worded it is actually true. A Philippine Airlines' Boeing jet did report engine failure, but it was only one computer on the plane talking to another computer receiving data at the Airlines maintenance base. Other than that, it was a pilot on a radio reporting the engine failure. Nice try ABC

@@battyjoe You obviously missed the whole point of the comment. The point was that it doesn't matter what plane has that engine, if it is an engine problem, than ANY aircraft beit Boeing (B), Airbus (A), McDonald Douglas (MD) or Lockheed (L) will be inflicted with the same issue. Of course the anti-america left cheer for American failure, so they make it an American issue. The only American issue here is with the American General Electric Co. Edit: Not trying to imply that GE has a problem with their engine, just saying that they would be where the problem would lie. GE is the manufacture that is holding up the 777-X, but that is not what this story was about. This story is about something that is an occasional occurrence on a highly proven engine, or any turbine driven engine for that fact.
