Philippine Milk Fish for Breakfast

Come along as we walk through Barangay (Tagalog for village) Cembo on the hunt for some breakfast from a local mom and pop carinderia (restaurant). These small restaurants are often build out of a person's home by turning a bedroom near the street into a small shop.

You're so right many foreigners think it's cheap in the Philippines because they prices with dollars and other foreign denominations like UK etc. Btw, hard boil egg (Nilagang Itlog-Pronounce- "Knee La Gang Itlog), goes pretty well with porridge in tagalog Lugaw, pronounce "Lou Gao". So find a carenderia that sells lugaw and most likely there's nilagang itlog. Thanks Kurt and as always, stay safe and healthy. And there's saying, "In every jungle there's snake. This is what I love about the Philippines. The people. Watching kuya Kurt's adventures, how many people, adults and kids, have we seen help him out? I'd be lucky here in Los Angeles to get someone to help -- everyone seems to be jaded and guarded, unfortunately understandably so. Ang bait ng mga tao sa Pilipinas. Talagang espesyal. I truly believe this that if a country honors God, it's reciprocated. See where the US is now compared to decades ago. I'm surprised people still want to come here. And no, just because a country is "rich" in money doesn't mean it's rich in character -- the more important of the two.

Bangsilog is my favorite breakfast in the Philippines (bangus, sinangag/fried rice, eggs). Dip the bangus in vinegar. I never pass a taho vendor without buying. I need taho everyday when I'm there.

0:10 Eggs in the PH = fried eggs. Boiled are not that popular unless it’s balut🤭 1:07 we say boiled eggs versus hard (boiled) eggs. So nilagang itlog. Soft boiled is not really a thing there. 2:30 the word matatas is not commonly used locally. In school perhaps but not in everyday convo😉 5:24 Many Filipinos are either Warriors fans or Lakers. I want to say Golden State, I’m biased; I’m in sf. Lol. They me not be very familiar with Jazz. 9:47 hopefully it’s boneless Bangus otherwise “matinik” 🤞🏼 12:30 Paco is a diminutive of the Spanish name Francisco. It then becomes Paquito for “small Paco” or an endearment. Puh-khee-toh 13:40 damn Kurt, you have to be careful with Bangus, the bone structure is very thin but can be deadly. It’s shaped like a wishbone and can easily hook to your throat!😳 Hopefully you’re okay. Btw the belly part of Bangus which to me is the best part is rich in omega 3!
