I am a South Korean. I appreciate the bold move by the Philippines. But I wonder who is to provide the GMTI/MMTI? Ground Moving Target Indication? Maritime Moving Target Indication? Tomahawks can reach over 1,600 km. SM-6 can reach 400~500 km. We need an extensive network of sensors for targeting something so far away and to command-guide the missiles to the vicinity of the targets, where the indigenous sensors(homing sensors like active RF or IIR) of the missile start to work.....For the time being, it would be best for the Philippines to use GMTI/MMTI provided by the US. If this is the case, the combination is formidable.

I am NOT quite sure whether the US will sell these things to the Philippines. The US tends NOT to sell too disruptive weapons to countries in a very hot geoplotical flash point. The US has no sold Tomahawks to SK(South Korea). We developed the indigenous version. The US has not sold to SK or even depolyed (in the US Army bases in SK) the 500 km range ballistic missiles launched from HIMARS. More than probably. the Philippines is saying: "Keep the Typhon in our territory. And let us buy some cheaper and downgraded version from South Korea" SK can NOT, should NOT sell, for example, 180 km range anti-ship ballistic missiles launched from Chunmoo-239 MLRS, WITHOUT the green light of the US. This is because the Philppines vicinity is on the hottest geopolitical flash point and the US is the one which is managing the security in this region.
