Whether theres an issue about coach tab attitude against local coaches, we need to admit that he is the best coach for our philippine team in terms of international game, hes experience and knowledge as a coach is more effective from this local coaches in terms of intenational competition, we seen it when we enter fiba competition before even we loss, pilipino players still they play as hard as they can we seen there confidence and composure even they played against famous and best players, and the last is the gilas cadets who played and win twice against korean curse. So we need to admit that we need coach tab if we want to increase our competitiveness in terms of playing basketball against international, it will benefits our country and us all for our pride 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭

We've been down this road several times and we haven't learned anything from it. We already had a system that was teaching our amateur players how to win on the international platform and yet we find ourselves back at square one. I don't know if the Gilas team that beat Korea twice would have beat New Zealand. But I know that those young players would have learned so much from the experience. It's about the long haul, not the short term wins. In the future, as the system continues to train more and more amateur players and the current crop of Gilas players graduate to playing professionally, we could easily tap a few of these "graduate" players as needed. Can you just imagine how potent that future Gilas team would be? Would it be nice to have a program builder that is well-liked by the Philippine basketball establishment? A coach that might be a little more wary of offending other coaches? A player's coach? Of course. But here's a guy in Coach Tab, that might not tick all the boxes, but he has a proven system in Ateneo which has successfully translated into the international stage with the Gilas program. But yet again we shoot ourselves in the foot and we let internal politics get in our own way. What a waste.

To be honest it doesn't matter how skillfull your players are you won't get far. Basketball really depends on size especially in under the ring situations. As much as I like Gilas I see the same things every year cause their demise. Philippines defenders are way to small, getting out rebounded regularly and struggling to outbody their opponents. And in offence they are undersized as well. Always forced to shoot high percentage mid range jumpers and rushed lay ups. You can have the best coach in the world but genetics also plays a big part in sport, eg; you don't enter beagle in a dog fighting contest. In saying this, the fact the Philippines are still marginally competitive against the big teams is an achievement in itself.

1. Too small "BIGS" of today's line up. - Absence of Sotto, Tamayo, Baltazar, Quiambao, Go, and other young bigs. This is the main reason why it is very hard for us to beat Korea, Iran, China, NZ and others in the past years. And now that we already have young big mans, in the likes of Sotto, Tamayo, Baltazar, Quiambao, Go, and many more, and really eager to play, we STILL go back to the old line up rosters which really is our disadvantage for years! Defense and rebounding issues...AND COHESION. We've seen it over and over and over, in FIBA basketball, winners don't always have the best one-on-one players or the fastest, quickest, most athletic ones. *You can win if you play good, solid TEAM defense and offense. Cohesion matters a lot in FIBA basketball, and that can only be developed by investing on TIME SPENT TOGETHER.* Seems like the Philippines has never learned any lesson from the past.

I watched the whole game. 1st Q was an even contest. 2nd Q got physical. NZ made their free throws but PHI did not. 3rd Q, NZ figured out PHI game plan and started to control the game. PHI team could not handle the physicality, and defense was poor so they couldn't do their running game. Maybe if they rotated players often to bring in fresh legs to execute full court press they could have made some runs? They also missed too many free throws...it was ridiculous. NZ did not really shoot well but they compensated in other ways. PHI plays were predictable, and their players were out of shape. Why do you bring unhealthy players to a FIBA qualifier? Only two players, the tall point guard with the tattoos and the muscular shooting guard did well. They are international quality players, but the rest of the PHI team is too amateurish, and the coach did not make the necessary adjustments................. I read some comments saying they are too short, but that's not why they lost. I've seen shorter teams beat taller ones. If you want to play in FIBA you should take it seriously, prepare and be in shape because you represent your country. SORRY if I offend anyone...don't mean to. I'm no expert but I've been watching the game for 3 decades. Anyway, good luck to PHI and NZ teams in the next games.

If players are not in high level play condition, defense suffer, it's like watching all star game but less shooting. At the end of the day basketball is about shooting the ball, the Philippine team always meet a team that's stronger, longer, yet better shooter. why can't we have coach who can train the players how to shoot.

To be fair to the coach, this isn't the AAA lineup that the Philippines can field. But then again, a better coach would have been able to make the midgame adjustments to mitigate the length of NZ. Those deciding who plays and who isn't in the lineup should also share the blame. But, it's just one game. The PH, historically, has had problems with NZ and AU, with their length and physicality. If the PH wants to really win this, they should field the big guns. Castro, Scottie, Japeth, Fajardo and the gang.

The average Filipinos already have high basketball IQ. Most of us here would agree that PBA style is not working. Just read through random comments on KZbin and you’d see a lot of discontentments and dissatisfaction of how the national team is being handled. It’s not lack of time or lack of talent, it’s just the people behind don’t know how to assemble and what to do. The outcome was already expected and anticipated. Missed shots, turnovers, outrebounded, no tactics.. same old story as in previous tournaments.

Kelly Williams getting rotation minutes in the year of our lord 2022 is a malpractice. I wouldn't even be surprised if Asi Taulava gets a call again. That tells you a lot about player's commitment, coaching changes, management politics in the national team. That's all there is, no continuation, no direction, no clear vision whatsoever. Gilas is a cooked product. Time to move on.

Rosario's height and skill set is needed in the international team kasi dapat 3 ang laruan niya, kelangan lang talaga magaling iyong coach na hahawak sa kanila, ang problema si Reyes ang coach so ayun mukha siyang lampa, pero kung si coach tab iyan mamamaximize ng husto iyan, tingnan mo si Baltazr traditional center pero lintek kung lumaro ngayon naging natural sa kaniya ang 3

I would suggest Coach Chito Victolero as GILAS coach, his run and gun type of play i think would work. Plus select the best amateur young PH players for better cohesion and blend. We also need more of Dwight Ramos and Castro,,

@@chocostrawberrycake4885 Maganda ang dribble drive kapag malalaki ang kalaban kasi nakaka gawa ng opening yung may hawak ng bola, option is to drive and lay up with high probability of getting a foul and second is to find the open team mates, deadly yon kapag maraming shooter ang gilas kaso wala. Kaya nya gusto yung dribble drive kasi marami tayong point guard na kayang humawak ng bola. Pero hindi ako fan ni chot at hindi ako pabor sa pag pick ng TNT, sinasabi ko lang na okay naman yung system nya "KUNG" may shooter tayo.

the guards are okay but now the problem is the defense inside the paint. So basically their forwards are not strong enough to handle the contacts with the opponents bigman.
