Thank you Michael. I don't remember these sets , perhaps after I'd closed the shop. Still a very interesting video

Great memories of repairing these sets as you stated they were a nice money spinner with those batteries and posistors when i invoiced the customer i used to put 'memory cell' on the invoice as if i put the word battery on rhe invoice the customer would complain when i charged £25 for the repair. A lot of philips tvs had these batteries in them and were a very common repair and those white 3 legged posistors used to be very common and easy repairs too. Also it seemed like Philips tv were very prone to dry joints.......Those were the days when you could make a reasonable living repairing consumer electronics!!!

Great memories of that model, exactly as you said,so many backup battery changes and posistors and dry joints all around exactly as you pointer out. That’s when life was what seemed simpler for repairing! Thanks Michael.

Thanks for this. Always good to see vintage TVs being restored and saved. Please do more! Here in NZ in 1983 we were still assembling Philips TVs with wooden cabinets and KT3 chassis. The CP90 chassis wasn't around at that time and I don't recall ever working on one. If they did come, it wouldn't have been until much later on. The earliest portable plastic set like this I can remember was the 'Trendset' with a glass front. Memory isn't great but I think it had the CTO chassis. Have you ever done a video and teardown of your capacitor reformer?

Very sad that Philips are no longer making stuff, that was a great chassis.

Another Philips chassis that brings back some memories. I relocated from Carlisle to Chester in 93 and the Television Magazine came out just before i closed my business in Carlisle. These CRT sets can still show todays LED sets how good a standard def picture should look.

I have not seen a snowy tv in a long time. We have digital ones at our house, so they just go black.

I still use two analogue sets at home with boxes and the dreaded flat screen in the living room .
@truthreigns77 сағат бұрын
@michaeldranfield7140 we had a 9 inch analog TV but it started messing up so I decided it was time to move to another TV. It was a TV with DVD built into it. I could not find another one.

It’s strange how Philips didn’t stick to FST with their smaller TVs like this. The sets they produced in the late 90’s into the early 00’s they moved a step back to the traditional curved screens.

You’re lucky as sometimes these batteries leaked and corroded the PCB and can make the set beyond economical repair
@michaeldranfield714013 сағат бұрын
looks like I just caught it in time , cant believe those old stock batteries have not leaked though .
@truthreigns713 сағат бұрын
