Hi, I Got these for £69 black Friday deal. Based on the 5 star review of the none (HR) model and amazon reviews. I love the look, Feel good on the head. There open backs while still haveing a good bass weight 👍. I've had them 2 week now, left them playing to there selves to run them. It has helped. But yes the top end can be... aaah a bit.......mmmm too much. But depending what you're listening to, and what you've got them hooked up to makes a difference. My Amplifier I've turned the treble down 1.and turned base up to 3. That combo really helped. I like rock based music. Some of my music sounded fantastic & others abit hard edged. And if the music gets too complex they can't really keep it together. Some mids sounded a bit lost, then other sounded pronounced and impressive 😊. I'm keeping them. But I have other headphones aswel to chop & change. I think for the money I paid there good value 😊.i Would recommend having equipment with tone controls to tweak there down sides. But there are plenty good points aswel. Playing Rage against the machine, Bulls on parade album showed there weighty attack of well 😊. But other music can sound unpleasant 😮. @@TheHonestAudiophile There has been several revisions of this headphone. X1 line, x2 line which had the most revisions and then the newer x2hr. I would agree that the x2hr is not a great headphone. I would be very wary of this headphone because there are many bad apples around. My brother bought it and I told him it did not sound like my original x2 and to get rid of it (later model with removable pads). In fact I believe the x2hr is based off the original x1 or early x2 (that z reviews did). I only got to try a few songs since it's not my pair to play with. But the bass is a lot more to the point where it's bloated/boomy and there is also a little bit of distortion and the control is loose. Mids sound more muffled/nasal/grainy and recessed and treble is more elevated and it sounds more airy and more sound stage. In other words it's tuned a lot more v shaped then what my original x2 were. The newer shp9500s also has a similar problem as well but the change in sound is not as much it just has a more muffled/grainy sound is the major problem with it.

Dude, there were a few moments where I thought you were gonna cry. Don't sweat it. Real men cry. Especially over disappointing and/or frustrating audio experiences. Still, I have a question: While you certainly shouldn't have to, with a decent set of headphones, I was wondering if you tried mitigating some of the sound issues with equalization. Also, did you use a dac/amp set-up...and, if so, what kind? I am rather a layperson (certainly with headphones and all the additional gadgetry), but, following a reasonable amount of research, I just ordered The X2HD's, and they're on their way. You have me afraid. Yes, very afraid. I also ordered The Fiio A3, since it has a good rating, price-point-wise, and it's all I could afford at this time (...`Guess I won't need the "bass boost"). I did all of this after returning a pair of Sennheiser M2BT's (for reasons I won't go into), and, so, I'm hoping I won't have to do the same with these. My only hope, if they suck as bad as you say they do, is that, because I'm a layperson, I won't know the difference, and they'll sound great. `Sorry they didn't work out for you. They are primarily my gaming headphones though and for that purpose i highly highly recomentd them, especially if you have a big head. The sound stage is huge, and the imaging great. A good mix of bass and positional awareness, they are fun and functional. Not boomish like "gaming headsets" and not bass anemic allowing the mids and highs to provide maximum positional awareness. Basicly the best of both worlds. There is no one headphone that does it all, but if youre looking for a gaming headphone primarily then this is the one to buy. Plugged them back into my Yamaha RN-803D, put on a mastered and lossless George Michael album via Airplay but this time pushed the amps Direct Source button. Saved myself couple hundred pound! These things are transformed. Yes, massive soundstage but the base is way less muddy and just about spot on. The mids are full of presence and rich and the highs are beautiful and not tiring. Elex or Edition XX?
@TheHonestAudiophile5 жыл бұрын
Two totally different sound signatures. Elex is immersive, , detailed, bright and clinical. The Edition X is laid-back, detailed and chill. I love both and recommend both but they have totally different approaches of presentation.

You are welcome. I so wanted to enjoy the X2HR but they just never got there for me, disappointing. Thank you for the kind words.

Never use these with pleather of leather pads. It ruins the sound. The best option I tried was larger Brainwavz XL velour pads. Since they are deeper the ears don’t touch the fabric moved by the driver bass like the stock velours do. I regret ever putting pleather ones on them. Now back to larger velours they actually sound good to me
@TheHonestAudiophile2 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you enjoy the X2HR. As you regretted putting pleather pads on them, I regret ever listening to the X2HR. Everyone hears and experiences audio different. Thanks for the comment.

If you use a computer as a source, you could use a high quality EQ app or if you use JRiver, you can EQ slightly and get the precise sound you're after.

@TheHonestAudiophile5 жыл бұрын
@ Kaklet Os thank you for your comment. I am explaining and describing what I heard. I also mentioned that I had an issue with the fit and comfort and that may have caused an issue with the sound I was hearing. I was being honest in my opinion about the quality of the X2HR. Don't agree about the mids. They're recessed only in comparison with headphones having mids pushed forward. Other than that, especially after getting used to, the mids are basically flat. They may seem like a bit behind because of the bass extention and prominant treble, but they really aren't. If they were vocals would be recessed along with it, but vocals are crystal clear and in fact very loud. The only scenario where I got the feeling of "lucklaster" mids was some type of songs that were mastered to be spcefically mid-centric type of deal, but it's not the flaw of the headphone itsels, it's the flaw of the cngested recording limited to given frequency.. Agree about the comfort though. Clamp force is almost as high as HD650 and the pads are being pulled up after a while making me readjust the fitting every now and then. The pads material is the worst I've never seen such terribe unpleasant dust and lint collecting material, it's good that at least it's a memory foam.

I've owned quite a few headphones by now, the only real blunder I made was getting the FX2. These headphones are awfull, there are many clueless positive reviews out there by shills and deaf people. Honestly I think they suck for gaming as well, there's just too much grain and uneveness in the treble and mids for cohesive spacial queues to me. I say no to these, and yes to subscribing to your channel.

Do you have any suggestions of good headphones below 200 euros? With a low impedance, especially if the price is near 200, because I don't have an amp. If they are too close to 200 euros, an amp would exceed my budget. I'm trying to buy my first quality headphones for listening to music; I have never found anything so difficult to choose as headphones. I thought about m40x, but they are very uncomfortable and where I live I cannot find the right pads for them.
