I’m the opposite. These are more fatiguing than any of my other headphones I have, such as compared to my hd660s. I have to crank these x2hrs up to hear the vocals and then because I’m treble sensitive and you’re obviously not, the v shape signature literally gives me tinnitus.

@@18yearsoldnot Fair enough. Everyone's ears are different. Truth be told though, I do have a small amount of tinnitus that comes and goes in the past 5 years. (Honestly tho, it's humorous that I was just sharing my respectful but differing opinion, but the first reply here that emphatically agrees with the OP receives a "heart". @@therealchickentender my heart goes to you. I have tinnitus for the past year since getting a sinus infection that spead to my inner ears from wearing the damn mask in my job. Some people say it's long covid but I think it's the mask wearing... Love these. Like the fit and pads. Love the sound signature. It really boils down to one's head/ ears shape. It'll affect the sound as well. The memory foam will partially correct their angle on one's head. The fit is really personal and will result in different evaluations by different people. Enjoy!

Thank You for this review. I had the same pressure problem and it was very discomforting. After a few months, I got pissed off and stretched them by force. Sometimes I listen to music with these headphones and they blow me away, other times I feel unimpressed and lightly fatigued/. Ive EQ'd the trble a little which made an improvement. They are primarily my gaming headphones though and for that purpose i highly highly recomentd them, especially if you have a big head. The sound stage is huge, and the imaging great. A good mix of bass and positional awareness, they are fun and functional. Not boomish like "gaming headsets" and not bass anemic allowing the mids and highs to provide maximum positional awareness. Basicly the best of both worlds. There is no one headphone that does it all, but if youre looking for a gaming headphone primarily then this is the one to buy. I dont think there is anythinh better at their price point or even quite significantly above.

@@TheHonestAudiophile There has been several revisions of this headphone. X1 line, x2 line which had the most revisions and then the newer x2hr. I would agree that the x2hr is not a great headphone. I would be very wary of this headphone because there are many bad apples around. My brother bought it and I told him it did not sound like my original x2 and to get rid of it (later model with removable pads). In fact I believe the x2hr is based off the original x1 or early x2 (that z reviews did). I only got to try a few songs since it's not my pair to play with. But the bass is a lot more to the point where it's bloated/boomy and there is also a little bit of distortion and the control is loose. Mids sound more muffled/nasal/grainy and recessed and treble is more elevated and it sounds more airy and more sound stage. In other words it's tuned a lot more v shaped then what my original x2 were. The newer shp9500s also has a similar problem as well but the change in sound is not as much it just has a more muffled/grainy sound is the major problem with it.

@@retroericreviews8828 X2HR is based on X2. Same line, just a newer revision with minor build differences. Phillips can't specify what has sound-wise changed so it interesting that many claim to hear differences between X2 and X2HR. @@deggis4 My experience is that I have had 2 different sounding headphones. My original x2 had none of the issues I posted above in the sound summary. It's the same concept when people talk about differences in sound with a hifiman or audeze revision (same line, but some changes have been made to make them sound different). My bros x2hr is a lot similar to what z review reviewed a long time ago, and it's not that great. While my older x2 does not match that description (bass head and lots of sound stage).

I bought a set of these when on sale. The reviews were great and the price was good enough that they were worth a punt. I tried them on my iPad and was not impressed. I tried them on my iPad via a Dragonfly Red and they were much much better. I tried them on my Yamaha RN-803D and Denon AVR X3400H and they were still not doing for me. I was about to purchase some Beyerdynamics but before I did I thought I would give them another go. Plugged them back into my Yamaha RN-803D, put on a mastered and lossless George Michael album via Airplay but this time pushed the amps Direct Source button. Saved myself couple hundred pound! These things are transformed. Yes, massive soundstage but the base is way less muddy and just about spot on. The mids are full of presence and rich and the highs are beautiful and not tiring. It just shows that with these types of headphones, you need a flat, as recorded source. Oh and they just get better the more you crank them up. I agreed with all you said until now 👍

Never use these with pleather of leather pads. It ruins the sound. The best option I tried was larger Brainwavz XL velour pads. Since they are deeper the ears don’t touch the fabric moved by the driver bass like the stock velours do. I regret ever putting pleather ones on them. Now back to larger velours they actually sound good to me

Dude, there were a few moments where I thought you were gonna cry. Don't sweat it. Real men cry. Especially over disappointing and/or frustrating audio experiences. Still, I have a question: While you certainly shouldn't have to, with a decent set of headphones, I was wondering if you tried mitigating some of the sound issues with equalization. Also, did you use a dac/amp set-up...and, if so, what kind? I am rather a layperson (certainly with headphones and all the additional gadgetry), but, following a reasonable amount of research, I just ordered The X2HD's, and they're on their way. You have me afraid. Yes, very afraid. I also ordered The Fiio A3, since it has a good rating, price-point-wise, and it's all I could afford at this time (...`Guess I won't need the "bass boost"). I did all of this after returning a pair of Sennheiser M2BT's (for reasons I won't go into), and, so, I'm hoping I won't have to do the same with these. My only hope, if they suck as bad as you say they do, is that, because I'm a layperson, I won't know the difference, and they'll sound great. `Sorry they didn't work out for you. Be well, and thanks for an honest appraisal.

I did use many a different setups. My current setup is somewhat different. I honestly don't recall that I had but I am sure I had the Monoprice Monolith THX AAA 788. Fiio A3 looks like a good simple device. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Don't agree about the mids. They're recessed only in comparison with headphones having mids pushed forward. Other than that, especially after getting used to, the mids are basically flat. They may seem like a bit behind because of the bass extention and prominant treble, but they really aren't. If they were vocals would be recessed along with it, but vocals are crystal clear and in fact very loud. The only scenario where I got the feeling of "lucklaster" mids was some type of songs that were mastered to be spcefically mid-centric type of deal, but it's not the flaw of the headphone itsels, it's the flaw of the cngested recording limited to given frequency.. Agree about the comfort though. Clamp force is almost as high as HD650 and the pads are being pulled up after a while making me readjust the fitting every now and then. The pads material is the worst I've never seen such terribe unpleasant dust and lint collecting material, it's good that at least it's a memory foam.

Do you have any suggestions of good headphones below 200 euros? With a low impedance, especially if the price is near 200, because I don't have an amp. If they are too close to 200 euros, an amp would exceed my budget.
