Hi, I saw that in the settings, there is "after X minutes, turn off the lights". Instead "turn off the lights" can I set "activate X scene"?

Great product but you forgot to mention a GREAT addition to what you have already described is that buy using the Hue Essentials App instead of the Hue App and going to smart controls it will also tell you the temperature in that location and the battery condition

I'm really disappointed you can't "enable last setting" with the motion sensor. Instead you have to choose a scene or use a Hue Labs formula to provide "enable last setting" features. Even with the "enable last settings" feature, they fail when I turn the lights off but am still in the room (they will turn back on.)

You can stick the magnet peace on a metal base and then put the sensor on it. like a fridge.

I decided to buy 2 of these sensors, work nice however I have 2 issues that I don’t like: Situation 1: You are in the living room with ambient lights on that you set yourself manual through the app, for example very low Edisonlight. Every time someone else or yourself walks or stands up the light turns bright again because of the sensor. My issue is technically the Hue Sensor should know that you are already in the room with sufficient light. If you are enjoying a family dinner and your dogs or somebody walks in you have bright light all the time. Is there a function that the manual setting can overrule the sensor as long as it’s on ? Situation 2: In my kitchen the lights turn on and stay on for 5 minutes, because I usually need something from the fridge or a glass or whatever. Now when I am cooking the lights dim after 5 minutes even though the sensor knows I’m still cooking ??? Why can’t this thing notice I’m still there and keep the lights on ? I mean every time it sees me moving just add 5minutes again ?? Anyone has a solution for this ?

Does this require wifi to work or once the installation and settings are done, the motion sensor works offline?

Aside from the lack of HomeKit compatibility (Philip's own issue as the Elgato Eve range offers one!) a PIR is great to see. It's a nice small size, but they can really only achieve that because the main nuts and bolts are tucked away in their (expensive) Bridge. The one issue I take is the magnetic fastening on the reverse, which to my mind could have taken a far slimmer profile by embedded the magnets inside the casing, flush is best. This definitely needs HomeKit support, along with the rest of their products.

Does anyone know if you can make it notify you when motion is detected in your room via pop up notification? That's all I would want to use it for. I don't care for motion sensing lights but what I want to use this for is for security, so as soon as motion is detected in my room it will notify me right on my phone no matter where I am in my phone.

Missing refinement of software from Philips hand, if the sensor is enabled in a light group and be active for example. at night, and should go off after example. 2 minutes it works at night, but during the day off sensor also light in light group after 2 minutes although it is only set to be active at night. Missing multiple adjustment modes Phillips ?? for the sensor can be used reasonable.

What's disadvantage of the Hue motion sensor not being HomeKit compatible if it still works with iOS? I'd like to get a couple, but don't know if I should wait.
@AndrewOHara
@AndrewOHara 7 жыл бұрын
+PasnThrou well if it was a HomeKit motion sensor you could trigger any HomeKit scenes. And other devices besides the hue. For instance, I swapped one wall switch to control my track lighting. Now I can use HomeKit to control that. If this hue motion sensor supported HomeKit, I could use it to trigger my track lighting because they work together

Try to set it to turn off after 2 minutes for example. on the night of the settings on the sensor, then go past the sensor during the day in the room where you have turned on the light because you want it on, then turn it well enough not nightlight, but it set the timer to turn off the lights 😕 which then turns off light for 2 min. Nå to have my lights on and the sensor should only be active at night. Missing an update from Philips ..

Can you use the light sensor , by itself ? so when its dark light goes on (even without motion)?
@AndrewOHara
@AndrewOHara 8 жыл бұрын
+Medy um.. I don't really understand.. I'm sorry. Do you mean can you schedule the lights independently? So that just.. in the evening certain lights go on? If that is your question, absolutely. You can create your own schedule and even base them on sunrise/sunset
@MedyGames
@MedyGames 8 жыл бұрын
Think of it as me only wanting to use the light sensor by itself without the motion sensor. Since this "motion sensor" also includes a "light sensor"(which can register if its dark or bright / day or night) , I was wondering if you could use this information independently. Meaning trigger your lights by just the level of brightness. For example if its dark outside(you could have a sensor outside or looking out of a window xD ) --> turn on the lights inside. This functionality would allow the lights always be on if there is a need for it( meaning its a rainy or dark during "daytime" --> lights go on.) Hope you understand now. Im already doing this by using a android tablets light sensor( that is looking out of a window xD ) ... so whenever its going dark outside the lights in my room automatically turn on , so I have never to press a single light button , which is awesome) .... During the day I get daylight , and when its to dark ( regardless of what time it is ) I get hue light ... ( I know its unusual , since basicly no one would do that, but I was annoyed by pressing buttons^^ ) If not I guess someone will add this via a third party app ;)

+Medy right now, no. I don't believe so. But there would be a way to do this maybe in the future once they allow developers to work with it.

I own the motion sensor and it's not very strong... That being said, if you had it pointed directly at a window or sliding door, it can pick up movement. Don't expect it to capture you from 10 feet away, but if you're right up against a sliding glass door, the sensor will most-likely see you.

Having pets really is a pita... I have 2 of these but the damn cats keep turning my lights on and off lool. Also it does mess with scenes so think about its use as when you walk past it changes the scene and you have to turn it back to what u want. It has it's uses but having cats has limited its use for me xD.

Do not think you buy it, it can not be used very much, for philips software is lousy, you can not have the lights on in your room for days even if light sensor is set so low that it should not register it only at night, to turn off your lights in the living room during the day, show you now want to have light in the room during the day is not very smart. Now make something that works Philips .....
