Philips Hue Resonate White and colour Ambiance LED Smart outdoor Wall Light review

In this video I will go through the unboxing, setting the Philip Hue bridge, testing and demo the Hue smart wall light.

The wall light itself is of excellent quality, something I would expect a £130 product would be. The set up is almost plug and play, just plug in everything and power up the light and download the app and follow the on screen instructions. I had it set up and running in less than 10 minutes, the hardest part will be mounting the light by drilling the wall and have the appropriate wiring or power supply to the back plate.
I tested the light in my garden and at 20 meters and through a wall and window the bridge controller have no issue connecting to the light and execute any commands I set from my phone app. The light is bright and the 16m available colour adjustment will satisfy any control freak out there.
I love how smooth and slick the hue app is, after all it is a high end product and Well done to Philips for making making such a high quality product.

Can you turn it on with a normal classic wall switcher? (Without app and the bridge), or you need app or special Philips switcher?

The lights also create there own “bridge” so multiple lights hook up to eachother.....litle tip 😎

Thanks for a great video. We bought a lamp just to test the brightness but we did not connect it to a bridge. To be honest we were a bit disappointed since we thought it would shine a bit more brightly. Can you tell me if the default setting, i.e. when you plugged it in, is maximum brightness or if it's dimmed down? Thanks.

That I cannot remember. At full brightness it should be a lot brighter than GU10 normal down light bulbs

Can you control the upper and lower lights independently or do they work together?

@@BCreviews Thanks for the info, I was looking for an answer to this question when I came across your review. Pity that it does not support controlling the lights individually as well. Of course that would eat up another slot in the about 50 lights a single Hue hub can control. Still would have been nice to have a config option to enable individual control of the two lights in it. (I have two Hue Hubs and about 70 Hue devices and am looking into adding some outdoor devices.)

biggest problem is that the hole for the wiring is not in the center! this means if you have to center the lamp in the middle of the wall then you need to do extra work.. pathatic design

Good review but I'd have like to have seen more info on how to operate the light without the bridge. I'm just about prepared to pay the price for the light but the extra cost of the bridge is a rip off in my opinion. I want to operate the light with my Google home and I should be able to do all the features with just my Google home app.

I agree about Philips being rip off when compared to my other smart item in my studio, the tech is there but they made it their own eco system just like Apple. However, if cost is not an issue I do find their bridge system more reliable and user friendly than my generic WiFi smart app and system.

Once you buy the bridge though, that’s you set and you can get whatever. I think Philips hue is a complete and utter rip off but buying a few odd things here and there isn’t that bad. £50 light strip and smart bulbs for certain applications is alright.
