This review is so detailed and technical. I don't need other reviews on the SHP9500 after watching this.

What a great review! Thank you, due to the price and comfort it's really hard to choose between 9500 and Audio technica M40x
@askdrtk3 жыл бұрын
Much appreciated! When you asked me to look at the 9500's I thought they would be a good choice being open-back, affordable, and many seem to like them. I didn't see much in the way of audio tests - mostly opinion style reviews, so I thought I might be able to help out with my own review. For longer listening sessions, the 9500's are far more comfortable for me in terms of fit and not feeling too warm (your experience may be different), but based on my tests, the m40x's deliver a more accurate representation of the audio which I find helpful for production work. Hope the review helped out and thanks again for suggesting I take a look at the 9500's!

I love those sinewave comparisons. They really tell a story. And tell me if I'm imagining things when I hear too much or too little of something.

Much appreciated - It is challenging to provide meaningful headphone reviews that I hope bring some value to watching. Thanks for checking out my look at the 9500's and I hope it helped out!

The leather hm5 pads fits these nicely. Great review, instant sub.

Glad you enjoyed my review and thanks for the confirmation on the hm5'a. Fit specs are ok, but there is nothing like actually trying them out on specific headphones.

Thank your for this detailed review on Philips SHP 9500. Looking forward to your thoughts comparing SHP 9500 vs 9600. Cheers 🙂

Thanks again. There has been considerable disappointment surrounding the release of the 9600's. I'm interested to check them out in general and to see what has changed as the 9500's have been so well received.
@RonaldSurya2 жыл бұрын
@@askdrtk yes, most reviews I saw, they leaning towards with 9500. Perhaps with your technical approached review can shed some light on this matter (which makes your channel more interesting). Thank you

I like your comprehensive approach This was a very thorough analysis/review. Thanks for posting. Is there any chance you'll do likewise for Superlux headphones? I'd be particularly interested in their HD681 model. Not the Evo version, just the 681. As an aside, was that a Rippingtons tune used for music test?

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed my review. By coincidence I posted a review of the HD681 earlier this week. Here is a link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4epo2qGn7SNntE The music used for the music test is Cold as Ice by Particle House.

It would be interesting to see how these match up to the ubiquitous Sony 7506 headphone.
@nine1kid Жыл бұрын
Used mdr's 7506 for about 4 years and now with these shp 9500 for around 6 months I can really tell the high frequencies are quite different: mdr's has accentuate highs while 9500 not... but in a way that misses too much highs, unfortunately. (may be all those years used to mdr's) Also I feel much more bass presence on 9500 than 7506 which can be really confusing on some mixing decisions. I'd recommend using correction plug in for mixing with both headphones since they not totally flat, like toneboosters morph or sonarworks correction plug ins (I think toneboosters worked way better for this porpuse)

Is there any way to EQ the output?
@askdrtk2 жыл бұрын
Not on the headphones themselves, but your playback device may have EQ and you can use plugins in your DAW or PC apps such as SonarWorks or even SteeleSeries Sonar (free) for EQ.

I need one so bad, but unfortunately it's not in my country

Sorry to hear that. A good alternative is the AKG K240 Studio or mkii. Both are open back with a natural sound profile.
