Nice review, these seem a good choice for simple install from a well established brand - in the UK some MOT stations are failing LED replacements and forcing you back to old xenon to pass the headlight test

Yes, they are good for what they are and price. I always just change before inspection :)

But isn't an aftermarket xenon a fail too?

Does it decrease brightness after long use?

What about the heat the driver electronics generate ? Is any active cooling inside, is it getting hot under extended period of time in an enclosed environment ?
@jobathano1660
@jobathano1660 10 ай бұрын
They have a small fan, so they have some active cooling. Testing is done at room temperature, after the brightness has stabilized after getting hot. At the moment I don’t have any equipment to measure heat, I want to buy a heat camera, my one stopped working. But they do get very hot, but because of the warranty and a manufacturer like Philips, I guess it’s within calculated limits. The bulb does not have as long advertised lifetime as other bulbs, I guess this is because of less cooling and smaller electronics. But for the price and ease of use, they make sense over a halogen bulb

@@jobathano1660 Had a couple of the older construction, where they had a huge heatsink on the back, but replaced the cars and now because of the unique sockets on the new headlights only these types fit. Thanks for the info. Great videos, meanwhile checked the others too.

Can you say something regarding performance during the night or rain?
@jobathano1660
@jobathano1660 7 ай бұрын
Not much, but compared to halogen the led light have a different spectrum of colors, so in general whiter/blue light is worse on wet roads. But on dry and snow i would prefer the whiter light.

Would you say that these are better or worse than the Osram leds in similar price range?

I guess they are fairly much the same, but here the equivalent osram bulbs are "much" more expensive.

@@jobathano1660 I am looking at the same price for these and the Osram 50w each total 100w LEDs that come either in 4300k or 6000k.

Could you maybe throw the auxito 9003 through these tests too? (Fanned version)

Compared to OSRAM ledriving easy?
@arekb5951
@arekb5951 7 ай бұрын
I've read many opinions that OSRAM ledriving easy doesn't fit in many headlamps because the part that goes into the reflector/projector is 2-3mm thicker than a regular H7 bulb. No problem with this Philips whatsoever.

@@perlani I'd love to hear your opinion about them after you test them out. Those Philips ones surprised me in a way I'd never think of - those tiny fans inside go absolutely ham and they're quite audible when the engine is off and the surroundings are fairly quiet 😅

@@arekb5951 Interesting. I was torn between ultinon and easy's, decided to with easy because I could not find info if you can tilt Philips 90 degrees. Osrams should arrive this week so I'll install over the weekend and see how they perform

@@perlani I'm pretty sure you can install them in two orientations 90 degrees apart, but I'm surprised that it's not written on the box because it's an important piece of information.

@@jobathano1660 I have a volvo v50 with a projector so curious how good it will work with that. Although doubting about the comment about less good visibility in wet weather.
@arekb5951

@@daindoboy you still get more light in general compared to a halogen, so even if colder light is worse at "piercing" through the rain, there's just more of it to try. In case of my projector headlamps these LEDs are still better than H7 in the least favourable conditions for LEDs. Don't know how will they behave during snowfall, halogen bulbs melt snow that sticks to headlamps easily, these ones - not so sure, there wasn't any snow in my region since I've fitted them.
