Bias lighting is use by content creators when color grading your content. It's because the human eye and brain adapt to seeing colors over time. We use a white (and possibly calibrated) light to conter that adaptation and keep a reference when working long times on the same frames/shot. It is not really helpfull for that when just consuming content. Also note that many post production facilities does not even use bias lighting when they use projectors and big screens for color grading. The client and color grading artist just sit in a black room like you would in a movie theater.

The official product pages are now live and what I see there is not as nice as I have hoped. The 9506 only has Micro Dimming Pro where the 9636 has Micro Dimming Premium. Therefore the 9506 wont have the 1024 zones but I think 768, hence the difference in peak brightness. But more important is the fact that only the 9636 is rated as FreeSync Premium Pro. The 9506 is only rated as Freesync Premium - this means Philips does NOT guarantee VRR working with HDR enabled - a big fat no-go for Gamers which clearly needs to be communicated! When this is really true and its only rated as Freesync Premium so the Gamer has to disable HDR to get VRR support then this TV is completely irrelevant and suddenly far away from being the probably best TV for Gamers with AL... I've never been comfortable with Philips essentially having their named just badged onto a product manufactured by someone else (like many brands do with multiple products). This TV has truly sparked interest but what is the true quality/support behind the Philips badge? What are peoples real experiences? Just curious. Thanks.

Do you know if these models will be available in the US...thank you as always for your amazing content, keeping us informed and great personality with no negativity...keep it up sir!

I doubt they are coming to US, since I think the US TV branch is owned by another company, possibly Hisense, so their TVs are entirely different and of poor quality.

Hopefully this means that it won’t take long for pricing to be reasonable given most manufacturers are boasting mini LED this cycle. Will you be showcasing the Q90A this year? I’m becoming quite frustrated with my Q900R.

Asus has miniled monitors coming out. Pg32uqx in their gaming line up and pa32ucg from their pro-art lineup.

Philips makes monitors too, though they aren't really comparable to these new TVs, but I guess they could start introducing some of the MiniLED tech in the near future? I think their Momentum monitors already provide 120Hz and 4K, but a HDMI 2.1 models are coming in the future. The monitors feature a neutered version of the Ambiligth, and they are very bright but have no FALD. I think updated Momentum line with MiniLED and HDMI 2.1 is possible in the future.
