Shortly after uploading this video, Philips informed us that: 1) The LCD panel is VA-type with quantum dot colours. 2) The peak brightness is 1500 nits. 3) the HDMI 2.1 bandwidth is 48Gbps FRL. 4) HGiG will be supported for gaming 5) Input lag is around 18 milliseconds. 6) Availability is end of June. Such good specs! And gonna be priced lower than their 806 OLED of equivalent size too! Are you interested?

So the 65PML9506 will be LOWER than the 65OLED806? I somehow thought they will make the Mini-LED TVs more expensive than the OLED equivalents. Thats VERY interesting, I might go with the 65PML9506 then, specs are decent and no risk of burn-in - a dream comes true! PS: A German Blog posts 2000 Nits for the PML9636, the 1500 Nits are for the 9506 only. But still 1500 Nits is perfectly fine for me :)

and for a reason, they are just to expensive and americans demand more for less. but i also expect more for its money, in europa people also don't buy alot of philips tv's , simple because there are always holdbacks in specs wich are important in the future. philips tv devision needs to get their shit together and start listening to consumers. why only 2 hdmi 2.1 connections? why such restricted OS, there is always something with their tv's. and its a shame because they look absolute marvelious, there is no tv better imo with colors

I have a philips mid range 2019 tv and it does wonders. Philip models also use a MVA panel that allows them to have deep black with good viewing angles, and in top models the color gamut and peak brightness is very nice too. I use it mostly for gaming and i can no longer play without the ambilight turned on. For those interested i have some short clips of my tv playing some videos on youtube and myself playing skyrim, if you wanna check out how ambilight looks like these videos are on my channel.

My father's first hdtv was a Philips. I was always fond of the ambilight feature but he didn't care for it so much. It's pretty easy to get some ambient light around the back of tvs nowadays but I always liked how the Philips would change to the color to match what was on screen. Gonna keep my eye on the mini led stuff. As much as I'd like an oled, I simply use my display for pc way too much. Not gonna risk burn in, even if it would take a couple years for it to happen.

@@hastensavoir7782 Picture quality is great yeah, but atleast in the past usability side has been a lot behind LG. I have maybe a 3-4 year old Philips TV and the software is really sticky and slow, it's unintuitive use and freezes occasionally. I have a Philips soundbar as well and they barely work together (sound lags and even cuts out completely via ARC). My friend has a top tier model of similar age and it's atleast as bad as mine. Before Philips, I lived in a place with a LG smart TV, which was older than my Philips, but it had zero issues and was way more fluent to use. To be honest, if it wasn't for Ambilight and the soundbar (seems somehow wrong to mix and match), I'd change away from Philips in a heartbeat. TCL could be great valua perhaps...

@@av941 I don't think is the reason because this channel is UK based so I rather thinks Philips only hands out OLED review units since like Jari Orava pointed out their LCDs for the last years didn't have the best picture quality. They focused on the midrange not flagship segment and midrange stuff often doesn't get reviewed to not damage the brand. P.S.: Philips Europe is run by TP Vision and Philips US is run by Funai so I think the models are fundamentally different anyway but don't quote me on that.

Speaking of bias lighting, I would love to hear your thoughts on that in a dedicated video, because there is a lot of debate around whether bias lighting should be used with OLED TVs or not. @PierrePotonnier 3 жыл бұрын
Bias lighting is use by content creators when color grading your content. It's because the human eye and brain adapt to seeing colors over time. We use a white (and possibly calibrated) light to conter that adaptation and keep a reference when working long times on the same frames/shot. It is not really helpfull for that when just consuming content. Also note that many post production facilities does not even use bias lighting when they use projectors and big screens for color grading. The client and color grading artist just sit in a black room like you would in a movie theater.

The official product pages are now live and what I see there is not as nice as I have hoped. The 9506 only has Micro Dimming Pro where the 9636 has Micro Dimming Premium. Therefore the 9506 wont have the 1024 zones but I think 768, hence the difference in peak brightness. But more important is the fact that only the 9636 is rated as FreeSync Premium Pro. The 9506 is only rated as Freesync Premium - this means Philips does NOT guarantee VRR working with HDR enabled - a big fat no-go for Gamers which clearly needs to be communicated! When this is really true and its only rated as Freesync Premium so the Gamer has to disable HDR to get VRR support then this TV is completely irrelevant and suddenly far away from being the probably best TV for Gamers with AL... For some reason there's not many reviews out for the 9506 model. I've heard from various sources that it has (or had?) lots of ghosting problems. Anyone know if that's a software issue that Philips have addressed with an update? This model is available on sale to a great price in Sweden atm.

Hey, I just recently bought this (9506) TV and was happy with it (for video), until I hooked it to my laptop, ghosting is very visible, *BUT* you can disable local dimming in about every mode per hdmi port, and that solves the problem. OK it's less contrast but it still looks pretty good (and I don't like mega contrast anyway if it's not done properly like on OLED). I bought it for EUR 900 so that was a great deal, it's worth that but not around EUR 1500.

Hopefully Phillips brings these models to the US. The only TVs you see here anymore are the lower end models at Walmart. I’ll be in the market for a high end tv this year so the more options the better. Was thinking about going 8k but really it makes no sense given there’s no content

Vincent, I would love it if you took a look at the Maiden demo for Resident evil 8 on PS5 for a video. It has some of the best HDR implementation I’ve seen in a video game.

On eARC. So if I connect a sound bar using the HDMI port with eArc, will it then send the audio through that port for the other 3 HDMIs? So say PS5 on the remaining VRR port, Apple TV on one and a satellite decoder on the last?

Why at 5:22 time it says the TV supports only up to 4K 60hz and on the video description it says 4K 120hz?

Vincent great vlog. I see that all vloggers are really looking forward to review Mini LED Tv's. Can I ask you this do you think that Mini LED has a really good chance to beat out OLED this year because I hear all the rave about this technology but will be interesting to see when you get them in your hands to see the difference. Do you also think that it is worth the change. Thank Vincent!!!

It’s not mini LED which is going to beat OLED. It’s micro LED, which is not yet available as consumer products at affordable price.

I currently have a LG B7 Oled and will be changing in the next 12 months due to burn in. The wife will not let me pay 2k again for a TV... Loving the sound of this tv but what kind of prices are we looking at? With no 55" are we going to be seeing these tvs at £1500-2000? Which would be too expensive for me for a tv currently not as good as my LG.

I've never been comfortable with Philips essentially having their named just badged onto a product manufactured by someone else (like many brands do with multiple products). This TV has truly sparked interest but what is the true quality/support behind the Philips badge? What are peoples real experiences? Just curious. Thanks.

I doubt they are coming to US, since I think the US TV branch is owned by another company, possibly Hisense, so their TVs are entirely different and of poor quality.

Philips makes monitors too, though they aren't really comparable to these new TVs, but I guess they could start introducing some of the MiniLED tech in the near future? I think their Momentum monitors already provide 120Hz and 4K, but a HDMI 2.1 models are coming in the future. The monitors feature a neutered version of the Ambiligth, and they are very bright but have no FALD. I think updated Momentum line with MiniLED and HDMI 2.1 is possible in the future.
