With some friends, I have made up some PCBs for this purpose, which work well and save lots of assembly time. They work with Philips N1502, N1700 and Grundig SVR4004 machines. Based on the Stefan Heimers circuit with some modifications. I'm not sure what circuit you were using here, since you have four transistors whereas the Stefan Heimers circuit uses two transistors.
