WTF did they pull Porter Hodge after only 12 pitches from the inning before? Miller clearly didn't have good stuff from the jump the next inning. That's on Counsell for trying to get too cute with a sh#tty bullpen. Amaya: if you can't hit, you'd better be a great catcher able to throw out runners. He's bad at catching and hitting at the MLB level.

He cannot catch. He can't throw. He is hitting .185. He can't run. He's lazy. The Cubs batters TAKE strike one all the time. The very next pitch, they always swing. They take a called strike 3. It's hard to win when you take strike 3. They are dumb and not talented and not aggressive and led by a manager who had yet to order them all to swing in hitters counts. That is 0-0. 1-0. 2-0. 2-1. 3-0. 3-1. The Cubs take about 99 percent of the time when it is a strike. But if a pitcher throws it over their head? They swing. Just the dumbest team ever.

complete agreement. watch other teams, they are getting hits on pitches that are just out of the zone. Cubs batter's greatest ambition is to get a ball and just maybe a walk. meow.

I went to my 1st Cubs game in 72 , they were a terrible team but they were fun to watch , not like today's team , boring , lifeless , inept at their positions , it's like they go up to the plate with toothpicks instead of bats lol I'm done now , just a god awful team , Jed & Carter should be fired , but willing to bet they won't be .

Morel is mostly clueless both at the plate and in the field. I was hoping for the best when Amaya came up last year, but he's been brutal tg his year defensively, which was the only reason to play him.

If the ball hits your glove you are supposed to make the catch. Just like in football, if it hits your hands, you make the catch. Little things like that are what loses games every time.

Great analysis. Love the live play stuff. It'd be interesting to know if our defense alone was up to our gold glove potential (forget offense) how many games we could have won the past 2 months. To me, it's really the defense that's flushed this team down the toilet.

Just terrible defense , PCA should have caught that ball if it hits his mit hes gotta make that catch especially in that situation hes in the big leagues and what can you say about Amaya hes just a terrible catcher hes cost this team multiple games but they still put him in the lineup daily. Makes no sense.

Most CF don’t even get there. We are spoiled by PCA’s defensive abilities but to say he’s in the big leagues when most wouldn’t even have a chance is just dumb

Yep. With his speed he should have had it, and should have had the one in Milwaukee. Watch closely and you'll see he tried more dramatic flair rhan necessary, tried to make it harder than it was. It bit him in the ass and I hope he learned a lesson. Dykstra learned the same thing early in his career.

Watch them. The Cubs cannot square up a fastball in the zone under any circumstances! With very few exceptions, they can only square up “spinners” over the plate and high change-ups.--pitches your grandmother could hit.. How did they regress this far?? It’s a mystery. Now they are for Ed to back up the truck. They won’t get better. You can’t recover from this as a team.

🤦🏽‍♂️Amaya has no business being in the MLB. He offers literally nothing up here and im not even trying to be mean. How do you have a catcher starting with a 67th avg pop time in the league? 2 catchers for every team so hes the worst and then some😂😂 and im not even gonna get into the hole he is as the plate. I mean if you're gonna be that bad behind the dish you better be giving us some offense atleast. But on a serious note, I really wish we never went on that run last year. We obviously enjoyed it in the moment but we had no idea how much it was setting us back because it gave the FO this false sense of security. And i was tricked also. But when you look at the month of Sept and how we just straight up collapsed thats who we really were and im comfortable saying that now. I hope this season gives us some urgency for this next offseason cause if it doesnt man are we in trouble

The cubs have a bunch of guess hitters with warning track power. The team improved the roster in the off season. Ross had them running, stealing bases and taking the extra base to put pressure on defenses and playing exciting baseball. They fired Ross for no good reason and hired an overrated, station to station manager, who is also a passive company man and plays the wrong prospects. Canario should be starting in either left or right. Happ or Suzuki should be traded. Crow- Armstrong and Amiya are not major league players, are easy outs and are both liabilities. The players are playing to the manager’s lack of fire and accountability.

In Counsell's defense, the team stole more bases in June than any Cubs team in 30+ years. So, he/they did adjust. But, despite adding that to their game, they still lack the ability to get a big hit.
