Seen Teach, this is the legendary Philip Fraser, Sharper than Razor. At least 1 Philip Fraser tune had to be played per night in any sensible rub a dub dance. "I will never let you go" on the original Answer riddim is 1 of my favorite songs of all time. "Troubles" c. 1978 is a Philip Fraser tune I loved as yute going to school. Stur Gav I used to hear the most Philip Fraser.

Slim Smith Article Talk Language Watch Edit Slim Smith (born Keith Smith; 1948 in Kingston, Jamaica - 1973) was a ska, rocksteady and reggae singer. In their book Reggae: The Rough Guide (1997), Steve Barrow and Peter Dalton described Smith as "the greatest vocalist to emerge in the rocksteady era".[1

As usual, Teach Dem always deliver. Very good interview. I could watch an additional hour of listening to Mr. Fraser. I remember hearing “This Time” vocal and dub back in the mid-70’s. I did not know the artist’s name. Arrows Hi-Fi used to play a wicked and raw drum and bass piece of the dub in the 70’s. Those were the days. Keep up the good work, Teach Dem. Bless Up.

Sir Teach Dem, regarding the question, “why the radio stations, etc refused to play Fraser’s music?” Are you asking because you genuinely don’t know, or is it to keep the communication flowing? It’s an open secret that the radio stations then refused to play the cultural music. Reggae was considered revolutionary or protest music, the voice of the ghetto. The government of the day might’ve even had a hand in this so the music was literally banned from the airwaves lest they open the eyes of the populace. Even the great Bob Marley faced this injustice, there was an incident in which one of Marley’s close friends, the iconic Allan skill Cole had to get physical with a radio personality from a top radio station then. The people dem never waaa play the Gong music Iya. But look how things have changed, take a look at what’s being aired on our radios now in the name of music. So it had nothing to do with the artists then, but rather everything to do with politics (the inner operations within the walls of the radio stations)
